Ovens

Ovens That Won't Hold Their Temperature

A wall oven that bakes forty degrees off, takes twenty minutes to preheat or shuts itself down mid-roast is usually telling you about one part: a temperature sensor, a bake element, a gas igniter or a relay on the control board. We test each one before we quote.

Convection fans, door hinges and door gaskets wear too, and on a built-in they are replaced with the oven still in the cabinet.

Cooktops

Induction and Electric Cooktops

Induction cooktops fail quietly. A zone stops detecting pans, the touch controls lock after a spill, or a fault code appears and will not clear. Behind the glass it is almost always a generator board, a sensor or the control, and we carry the common ones for the models we see most.

Radiant electric tops bring different faults: an element that stays on, a cracked glass top or a switch that only works on high.

Why It Is Different

A Built-In Is Not a Freestanding Appliance

Three things that change how the repair is done.

It is fitted to the cabinetry

Ovens, columns and panel-ready doors come out only if they must, and never by prying. Custom panels, stainless trim and stone counters are covered before anything moves.

It draws more power

Pro ranges and double ovens run on 240-volt and gas connections. We check the connection and the shutoff on every visit.

Parts are by model, not by brand

We order from the serial number so the board, hinge or element fits first time. We work on most premium brands.

How a Built-In Repair Goes

Model and serial first

Send a photo of the rating plate and we arrive with the likely parts already on the van.

Protect the kitchen

Counters, floors and panels are covered before a tool comes out.

Repair in place

Most built-ins are repaired without leaving their cabinet. When one must come out, we take it out properly.

Calibrate and confirm

Ovens are temperature-checked and cooktops tested on every zone before we close up.

Hoods and Downdrafts

Range Hoods Are Appliances Too

A hood that has gone quiet, rattles or no longer clears the steam off a rangetop usually needs a blower motor, a capacitor or a switch. Downdraft units add a lift motor and a vent path that can clog.

We also replace lights, filters and controls, and we check the duct run when the airflow does not match the blower.

Our wall oven read 350 and baked at 410. Aldergate measured it, replaced the temperature sensor and recalibrated the control, and the first loaf after was right.

The induction top stopped recognizing two of our pans. They came with the generator board for our model on the van and finished in one visit, with the counter covered the whole time.

Panel-ready fridge, custom door, nobody else wanted to touch it. They took the panel off, fixed the hinge and the seal, and put it back without a mark.

Questions

Built-In Repair Questions

My oven temperature is off. Can it be calibrated?

Usually. We first check the sensor and the element or igniter, because a failing part reads like a calibration problem. If the oven is sound, we calibrate the control to a measured temperature.

Can you replace the glass on an induction cooktop?

On most models, yes. The glass top is a model-specific part, so we need the serial number before we can give a price.

Do you work on panel-ready refrigerators and wine columns?

Yes. We remove and refit custom panels ourselves, and we repair hinges, seals, fans, controls and sealed-system faults on column refrigeration.

How much is a diagnostic visit?

A diagnostic visit for a built-in appliance is $139. When we do the repair, the fee comes off the bill.

Do you install appliances?

No. We repair built-in and professional-grade appliances only. For installation we are happy to recommend an installer.

Which areas do you serve?

Bellevue, Medina, Clyde Hill, Kirkland, Redmond, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Issaquah and Newcastle.
