The Most Common Call We Get
When the freezer is fine and the fridge is warm, the compressor is usually working. The cold just isn't reaching the fresh-food side. The usual causes are a frost-choked evaporator from a failed defrost part, an evaporator fan that has stopped, or a damper stuck shut.
A door gasket that no longer seals makes all of it worse in a Phoenix kitchen. We check it on every visit.
- ✓Defrost heaters, sensors and timers tested
- ✓Evaporator and condenser fans replaced
- ✓Air dampers freed or swapped
- ✓Door gaskets checked for a full seal
Hard Water Is Hard on Ice Makers
Valley water carries a lot of minerals. Over time they scale the fill valve and the water line, and the ice maker slows down long before it stops.
Small or hollow cubes
Usually a scaled fill valve passing too little water.
No ice, water dispenser works
Often a frozen fill tube or a failed ice maker module.
Ice clumped in the bin
A freezer running warm, or a door that isn't sealing.
Leaking under the fridge
A cracked inlet line or a valve that drips after it closes.

More Doors, More to Go Wrong
A French-door or side-by-side refrigerator carries an ice maker in the door, a water line through the hinge, two evaporator fans and a control board that runs all of it. When one part fails, the symptom often shows up somewhere else: ice in the door but a warm deli drawer, or a dispenser that only trickles.
We carry the common door-ice and water-line parts for these models, so most repairs finish in one visit.
- ✓Door ice makers and augers
- ✓Water lines, filters and inlet valves
- ✓Dual evaporator fans and control boards
- ✓Deli and crisper drawer temperatures
Four Things That Save the Food
Keep the doors shut
A closed refrigerator holds a safe temperature for about four hours. Every opening shortens that.
Move what matters to a cooler
Milk, meat and medicine first. Ice from a neighbor or the store buys you the afternoon.
Check the breaker and the plug
A tripped breaker looks exactly like a dead compressor. It takes a minute to rule out.
Note what it's doing
Clicking, humming, frost on the back wall or a fan you can't hear. It helps us bring the right part.
Cold Appliances Only, Since 2017
Frostwick repairs the appliances that keep things cold: refrigerators, freezers, ice makers and beverage coolers. Nothing with a burner or a drum.
In a city where garages pass 120 degrees in July, that focus matters. Most of our summer calls are second refrigerators and chest freezers working far harder than they were built to.

Fixed Before the Food Spoiled
Our garage freezer quit in the second week of July with a quarter of beef in it. Frostwick came the same evening, found the condenser fan motor seized, and had it holding zero before ten o'clock.
The ice maker had been making half-moons the size of a fingernail for months. He showed us the scale on the fill valve, replaced it, and told us how often to change the water filter with our water.
Fridge warm, freezer fine. I assumed the compressor. It was a frozen evaporator from a failed defrost heater, fixed in one visit.

Refrigerator Repair Questions
Is it worth fixing a refrigerator that is ten years old?
Often, yes. Fans, defrost parts, valves and controls are far cheaper than a new refrigerator. If the sealed system has failed on an older unit, we will tell you replacement makes more sense.
Do you repair garage refrigerators and chest freezers?
Yes, and in summer they are a large share of our calls. We can also suggest where to place one so it isn't fighting the heat.
Do you repair ovens or washers?
No. We only work on refrigerators, freezers, ice makers and coolers.
What does a visit cost?
A diagnostic visit is $85. When you go ahead with the repair, we take it off the bill.
Where in the Valley do you go?
Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa, Glendale and Ahwatukee.
