Why a Shop

What a Counter and a Bench Add

Most repair businesses are a phone number and a van. Dunwell is a building you can walk into.

Parts in stock

Belts, pumps, elements, igniters, thermostats, door switches and fan motors for the common models, in stock.

Bench-tested

Boards and motors are tested on the bench, not guessed at in your kitchen.

Stocked trucks

Each truck restocks from the counter every morning, so more in-home jobs finish on the first visit.

Ask the counter

Fixing it yourself? Bring the old part or the model number and the counter will match it and show you the steps.

Appliance Parts, Matched by Model Number

The counter stocks the parts that fail most on the brands sold around Pittsburgh, and orders the rest by model number for next-day pickup on most items. Bring the old part or a picture of the rating plate.

We will tell you honestly when a repair is beyond a kitchen-table job, and when it is a ten-minute swap.

  • ✓Dryer belts, rollers and heating elements
  • ✓Washer pumps, lid switches and hoses
  • ✓Fridge fan motors, thermostats and gaskets
  • ✓Range igniters, elements and knobs

How a Repair Goes

The same four steps whether it comes to us or we come to you.

1

Call or walk in

Tell us the appliance, the model and the symptom.

2

Diagnose

At the bench or in your home, we find the failed part and test it.

3

Price before parts

We give you the repair price and a straight answer on whether it is worth it.

4

Repair and pick up

Bench jobs are ready for pickup; in-home jobs are finished on the spot when the part is on the truck.

Carry-In or In-Home?

How to Decide

1

If it fits in the car, bring it in

Microwaves, countertop ovens and small freezers are cheaper to fix at the bench.

2

If it is plumbed or wired in, we come out

Refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges and dishwashers are repaired in place.

3

If you are handy, buy the part

The counter matches the part and walks you through the swap. Unplug it first, always.

4

If you are not sure, call

Two minutes on the phone usually settles it, and the counter can check the part price while you wait.

  • ✓Three service trucks for in-home repair
  • ✓Bench repairs for anything you can carry

Dropped the microwave off on a Tuesday morning, had a call with the price by noon, picked it up Thursday. Half what a new one of the same size costs.

I needed a dryer belt on a Saturday. The counter had it, the guy drew me the belt path on the box, and the dryer was running by dinner.

Our fridge stopped cooling on a Sunday night. They were out Monday afternoon with the fan motor on the truck and had it cooling in one trip.
