How It Works

One Loaf, Obsessed Over, Every Week

Sunday Loaf started because we wanted one thing: genuinely great bread, without the Saturday-morning pilgrimage and the sold-out heartbreak. So we built a bakery around a subscription — we bake a limited number of loaves each week, exactly to demand, and get them to our members fresh.

Everything is naturally leavened with a starter we've kept alive for years, cold-fermented for 48 hours, and baked dark for a blistered, crackling crust. Because we bake to order for the club, nothing sits, nothing is wasted, and every loaf goes straight from our oven to your Sunday. It's the best bread in the neighborhood, minus the line — and once it's just showing up every week, you'll wonder how you ever did it any other way.

  • Baked to order for the club — nothing wasted
  • Blistered, crackling, baked-dark crust
  • Delivered or picked up fresh every Sunday
Why the Club

Better Bread, Zero Effort

A subscription isn't just convenient — it's how you get bakery-grade bread without the bakery-grade hassle.

Naturally Leavened

A years-old starter, no commercial yeast, and a 48-hour ferment — the source of the flavor, the crust, and the keeping quality.

Fresh Every Sunday

Baked to order for the club and delivered the same weekend, so what you get is never a day older than it should be.

No Line, No Sellout

Your loaf is reserved and yours. No 8am pilgrimage, no 'sorry, we're out' — just great bread, showing up on schedule.

Baked to Demand

We bake exactly what the club orders, so nothing sits and nothing is wasted. Small-batch, on purpose, every week.

Totally Flexible

Pause, skip, swap loaves, or change your delivery day anytime, with no drama. It's your bread, on your schedule.

A Fishtown Favorite

Six hundred members and counting, and a lot of people who quietly think it's the best bread in Philadelphia. We agree.

Want to gift it? A subscription is the rare present that keeps showing up — every Sunday, someone thinks of you and eats extremely well because of it. Add cultured butter and seasonal jam for the full experience, or send a gift box to start someone off. Pause anytime, change loaves whenever, and never think about bread logistics again. That's the whole point of the club: great bread should be a given, not a project.

From the Club

Philadelphia Bakes on Sundays

Joining Sunday Loaf is the single best decision I've made about my kitchen. A fresh, blistered-crust sourdough shows up every Sunday like clockwork, and my week is measurably better for it. The crumb is open and custardy, the tang is perfect. I've stopped buying grocery bread entirely. Genuinely life-improving.
Rebecca M.Member, Fishtown
I gifted my parents a subscription and now they call me every Sunday to describe the loaf. It's become a whole family thing. The bread is world-class — better than most Philly bakeries — and having it just appear every week is a quiet luxury I didn't know I needed. Ten stars, would gift again.
Marcus T.Gift Member, Fairmount
The seeded multigrain has ruined me for all other bread. That crust, that chew, the little pop of the seeds — it's the best toast of my life, every single morning. The club is effortless: it's just there, fresh, every Sunday. I recommend it to literally everyone who will listen.
Priya S.Member, Passyunk
I was skeptical a bread subscription was worth it. I was extremely wrong. This is real, naturally-leavened, small-batch bread that would cost more and take an hour of line-waiting at a fancy bakery — and it just shows up. Add the cultured butter and you'll never look back. A Fishtown treasure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the subscription work?

Pick your loaf, your frequency (weekly or every other week), and whether you'd like delivery or Sunday pickup. We bake your bread fresh each weekend and get it to you every Sunday. You can pause, skip, swap loaves, or cancel anytime, no drama — it's your bread on your schedule.

Do you deliver, and where?

We deliver across much of Philadelphia on Sundays — Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Fairmount, Passyunk, and more — for a small fee, and offer free Sunday pickup at our Fishtown location. Pop in your address when you join and we'll confirm delivery to your area, or set you up for easy pickup.

Is the bread really naturally leavened?

Every loaf, always — we use a starter we've kept alive for years and no commercial yeast at all. Our doughs cold-ferment for 48 hours, which is where the deep flavor, open crumb, blistered crust, and great keeping quality all come from. It's real, slow, honest bread.

Can I gift a subscription?

Yes, and it's one of the best gifts going — a fresh loaf that shows up every Sunday with your name on the thought. Choose a length, add butter and jam if you like, and we'll send a note to let them know it's from you. They'll think of you fondly every single week.

Do you have gluten-free bread?

We don't — our whole craft is built on wheat, rye, and long natural fermentation, and we can't make a gluten-free loaf we'd be proud of. As a flour-heavy bakery we also can't promise a gluten-free environment. We keep it focused and do one thing exceptionally well.

What if I'm out of town some weeks?

Just pause or skip — it's completely flexible, and you'll never pay for bread you can't enjoy. Manage it all yourself anytime, or drop us a line and we'll sort it. The club is designed to fit your life, not the other way around. Great bread should be easy.
