Historic Bed and Breakfast in Charleston
An 1848 brick house South of Broad with five rooms, a shaded piazza and a garden behind the gate. Ten minutes on foot to the Battery, and a parking space that comes with the room.

Five Rooms, Each One Different
Rates are per night for two guests and include breakfast, parking and the afternoon porch. Pick the one that sounds like you and we will hold it.
Two-night minimum on weekends from March through May. Call us if that is a problem — it sometimes is not.

An 1848 House, Run By The People Who Live In It
Wrenlow House has been an inn since 2007, and the two of us have run it since we bought it with a leaking roof and good bones. We restored the heart-pine floors and the piazza ourselves, room by room, and we still cook the breakfast.
Five rooms is a deliberate number. It is small enough that we learn your name on the first morning and know how you take your coffee by the second — and small enough that we can hold the front door for a late flight instead of pointing at a kiosk.
- ✓Restored in 2007 and maintained by hand ever since
- ✓Innkeepers on site, not a call center
- ✓Off-street parking behind the gate for every room
- ✓Ten minutes on foot to the Battery and Rainbow Row
What The Rate Actually Covers
No resort fee, no parking charge, no per-person breakfast surcharge. The number you see is the number you pay.
Breakfast cooked to order
Served 8 to 10 in the dining room or out on the piazza. Tell us the night before if you need it earlier.
A parking space behind the gate
One space per room, off the street, included. Downtown Charleston makes this the amenity guests thank us for most.
Wine and something sweet at five
Put out on the sideboard every afternoon. Take it to the porch — that is what the porch is for.
Wi-Fi that works upstairs
We put in a second access point on the third floor because the old plaster eats signal.
Coffee from six in the morning
In the hall outside the dining room, well before breakfast opens, for the early walkers.
Bags held either side of your stay
Arrive before three or leave after eleven and we will keep them behind the desk.
Have A Look Around Before You Book

What A Five-Room House Can Do That A Hotel Cannot
Breakfast At Your Hour
One kitchen, five rooms. If you are catching a boat at seven we will have eggs on at half six, and it is not a favour — it is just how a house this size works.
The Same Two Faces
You will deal with us the whole stay. Nobody hands you over at shift change, and nobody asks for your name twice.
A Street You Can Walk Home Down
South of Broad at ten at night is quiet, lit and flat. Guests walk back from King Street rather than queue for a car.
Local Advice With A Stake In It
We send you where we eat, because you will tell us about it at breakfast. That keeps our recommendations honest.

South Of Broad, Which Is The Part You Came To See
The house sits inside the historic district, on a street of 19th-century brick with shutters and gas lamps. Rainbow Row is six minutes on foot, the Battery ten, and the market about fifteen.
It also means you can leave the car where it is. Most guests park on arrival and do not touch it again until they leave — which, downtown, is the whole point.
- ✓Rainbow Row — 6 minutes on foot
- ✓The Battery and White Point Garden — 10 minutes
- ✓City Market and King Street — 15 minutes
- ✓Charleston International — 25 minutes by car
How A Stay Gets Confirmed
There is no instant-booking button here on purpose — five rooms means a person checks the book before anything is promised.
Send Us Your Dates
The form takes a minute. Tell us the room you like and roughly when you will arrive.
We Reply Within The Day
Usually much sooner. If your room is taken we will say what else is free rather than leave you guessing.
One Night Holds It
A single night's rate confirms the booking. The balance is settled when you check out, not before.
Arrive And Park
Pull in behind the gate from three o'clock. We will be at the door and the coffee will be on.

March Through May Books Out By January
Azalea season is the busiest stretch of our year and the two larger rooms go first. If you have dates in mind, send them now and we will hold them while you decide.
What People Say After They Leave
We have stayed in a lot of inns and this is the one we talk about. Breakfast was cooked to order every morning, and when it rained they left an umbrella outside our door without being asked.
The parking alone is worth it downtown, but what we remember is the porch. We came back from dinner both nights and just sat out there with the fans going.
I booked the Carriage House for my mother's eightieth. They moved a chair in so she could sit by the window and had flowers waiting. Small place, and you feel it in the best way.
Questions We Get Every Week
Is breakfast really included, and is it cooked?
Yes to both. It is a hot breakfast cooked to order — eggs how you want them, something baked that morning, fruit and good coffee — served between eight and ten. There is no per-person charge and no buffet. If you have an allergy or you are vegetarian, tell us when you book and it is simply handled.
Where do I park?
Behind the gate, in a space that comes with your room at no extra cost. That is unusual South of Broad, where street parking is metered and scarce, and it is the thing guests mention most often in reviews. Anything larger than a standard SUV, let us know first.
How far is it to walk to the Battery and Rainbow Row?
Ten minutes to the Battery and about six to Rainbow Row, on flat pavement the whole way. King Street and the City Market are roughly fifteen. Most guests park when they arrive and do not drive again until they leave.
Do you take children or dogs?
The main house suits guests twelve and over, because it is a small building and sound carries in an 1848 frame. The Carriage House across the garden is separate and takes a family of four. One well-behaved dog can stay in the Garden Room for $40 a stay — mention it when you book so we put you in the right room.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel seven days or more before check-in and you get a full refund. Inside seven days it is half. We ring you before we charge anything, and if something has genuinely gone wrong — a flight, a family emergency — talk to us. Five rooms means we can use judgment.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights on weekends from March through May, which is our busiest season, and on holiday weekends. The rest of the year a single night is fine. If a one-night stay is the only thing that works for you in spring, call us anyway — gaps open up.
