Each one is out of sight of the others. Rates are per night for the whole cabin, not per person, and firewood is included.
Firewood, the fire pit and the hot tub are included in every rate. Send us your dates and we will tell you what is free — we do not take a card to hold a cabin.
Forty acres, five cabins, and a gravel lane
Sablecreek is forty acres on a ridge above Gatlinburg, bought in 2012 when it was one cabin and a lot of laurel. There are five now, each sited so you cannot see another one from your porch, and that is the whole idea.
We are twelve minutes from the park gate and fifteen from the strip, which is close enough to do both and far enough that you cannot hear either.

Things you do not pay extra for
Firewood, split and stacked
A full rack by the door and the fire pit laid before you arrive. Most places here sell you a bundle at the office; we do not have an office.
The hot tub
One on every deck, drained and checked between every stay. No fee, no timed access, no sharing it with the cabin next door.
Dogs
No charge and no weight limit. Forty acres of woods and a creek at the bottom of it; most dogs have a better weekend than their owners.
Wifi where it reaches
Good at The Laurel and The Dogwood, patchy at The Sourwood, effectively none at The Hemlock. We will tell you honestly before you book.
Every cabin has a real fire in it
Four of the five have a stone fireplace and the fifth has a woodstove, and all of them are the actual heat rather than a gas flame behind glass. The rack by your door is filled before you arrive and topped up if you stay more than three nights.
There is kindling and a firelighter in the box. If you have never laid one, ring us and someone will come up and do it — that has happened more often than you would think.

The practical part
The lane is the only thing worth knowing in advance.
The lane is gravel
About half a mile of it, well graded, fine for any car in dry weather. In ice we will meet you at the bottom in the truck — it happens two or three times a winter.
There is no front desk
Your door code comes by text the morning you arrive. Someone is on the phone from eight until eight and lives eight minutes away.
Stock up before you come up
There is a grocery in Gatlinburg on the way and nothing after it. Most people arrive with a cooler and do not leave the ridge again until they go home.
The park gate is twelve minutes
Sugarlands entrance, and you are on the Chimney Tops trailhead inside twenty-five. Go early — by ten the lot is full from March through October.

Is firewood really included?
Yes, in every rate, and the fire pit is laid before you arrive. A full rack by the door and topped up free if you stay more than three nights. Most cabins around here sell you a bundle at the office; we would rather you had a fire every night.
Can we bring a dog?
Yes, free, no weight limit, no breed rules. There are forty acres of woods and a creek at the bottom. The only ask is that dogs are not left alone in a cabin — hot tubs and woodstoves are not a good mix with a bored dog.
How bad is the lane?
Half a mile of graded gravel. Any car in dry weather; a low sports car will scrape at one point after heavy rain. In ice we meet you at the bottom in the truck, which happens two or three times a winter and costs nothing.
Is there cell signal and wifi?
Wifi is good at The Laurel and The Dogwood, patchy at The Sourwood and effectively absent at The Hemlock, which has no cell signal either and a landline instead. We will tell you which is which before you book rather than after.
How far is the national park?
Twelve minutes to the Sugarlands entrance and about twenty-five to the Chimney Tops trailhead. Go before eight in season — the lots fill by ten from March through October and there is nowhere else to put a car.
Can we book more than one cabin?
Yes, and families do it for reunions. The Laurel, The Dogwood and The Sourwood are closest together if you want to be able to walk between them. Ring rather than using the form and we will work the dates out with you.
