Boutique Hotel in East Austin
A fourteen-room hotel on the east side, with a bar that fills up with people who did not book a room.

Fourteen rooms, one bar, no lobby to speak of
Havenbrook opened in 2017 in a building that had been a tire shop and then nothing for eleven years. There are fourteen rooms over two floors, a bar off the courtyard, and a desk that is really just the end of the bar.
We are four streets off Cesar Chavez, which means you can walk to dinner and walk back, and twelve minutes from downtown when the traffic behaves.
- ✓Fourteen rooms, five layouts, no two the same
- ✓A bar open to the street from four until midnight
- ✓Tacos from the window downstairs from eight in the morning
- ✓Dogs stay free — tell us and we will put you on the ground floor
Five Layouts, Fourteen Rooms
Rates are per night, before tax, and they move with the calendar — what is below is the everyday number.
Send us your dates and we will come back with what is actually free. Nothing is charged to hold a room, and you can change your mind up to three days out.
What it actually looks like

The reason people book the ground floor
The courtyard is the middle of the building and the middle of the day here. There is a plunge pool that is exactly big enough to get cold in, a pecan tree that predates the tire shop, and string lights that go on at dusk whether or not anyone is out there.
The bar opens onto it at four. On a Thursday in October it is the best room in the hotel and it does not have a roof.
- ✓A plunge pool, open from seven until ten
- ✓Shade until about two, then you want the pecan tree
- ✓The bar serves out here from four
- ✓Two of the five room types open straight onto it
How a night here actually goes
There is no concierge and no bellhop. There is someone at the end of the bar who knows the answer.
Arrive after three
Park behind the building and come in through the courtyard. Whoever is on the bar checks you in; it takes about two minutes and involves no printer.
Ask where to eat
We will not hand you a map. Tell us what you feel like and how far you want to walk, and you will get one answer rather than twelve.
Come back late
The bar runs until midnight and the courtyard until people stop talking. Your key works all night and the front is locked from eleven.
Coffee at six, tacos at eight
Breakfast is not included and is not a buffet. It is a taco window and a coffee machine, and it is better than a buffet.
Out by eleven
We will hold bags behind the bar for as long as you need, and there is a shower off the courtyard if you have a late flight.
Before you book
The bar is open to the street
Which is the point, and also means the two courtyard-facing rooms hear it until midnight on a Friday. Ask for an upper-floor room if that matters.
There is no lift
Six of the fourteen rooms are on the ground floor, including both Courtyard Rooms. Tell us and we will put you there.
We do not have a restaurant
We have a bar that does snacks and a taco window downstairs. Dinner is a four-minute walk in three directions.
Rates move with the calendar
Austin does this to everyone. March and October cost more; January and August cost a lot less.
Tell us when you are in town
Fourteen rooms goes fast in March and October. Send dates and we will answer today.
How booking works here
No deposit, no card on file, no email from a system that is not us.
Send your dates
The form below, or ring the bar. Tell us which layout you want and how many of you there are.
We answer the same day
With what is free, what it costs that week, and anything odd about the specific room.
You confirm
That is the booking. We take payment when you arrive, and nothing before.
Change it if you need to
Free up to three days out. Inside that we ask for one night if we cannot fill the room.
Asked most often
Is breakfast included?
No, and we would rather be straight about it than build it into the rate. There is a coffee machine in the courtyard from six and a taco window downstairs from eight, and between them that is a better breakfast than the one we would serve you.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, free, no weight limit. Say so when you send your dates and we will put you in a ground-floor room with a door onto the courtyard. The only rule is that dogs do not go in the plunge pool, which we have had to learn to say.
Is there parking?
Ten spaces behind the building for fourteen rooms, free, first come. If they are full there is street parking on the side road most evenings. We will tell you honestly if you are arriving on a weekend in March.
How noisy is it?
The bar is open to the street until midnight and the courtyard is the middle of the building, so the two courtyard-facing rooms hear it on a Friday. Upper-floor rooms on the street side are quiet. Ask and we will be honest about which is which.
How far is downtown?
About twelve minutes by car, twenty on a bike, and roughly thirty walking along the river if the weather is being kind. Rainey Street is closer than downtown proper.
Do you hold rooms without a card?
Yes. We do not take a deposit and we do not keep a card on file. You tell us your dates, we confirm by email, and you pay when you arrive. Cancel more than three days out and there is nothing to pay.
Ask about dates
Send the nights you want and the layout that appeals. Someone writes back the same day — and nothing is charged until you arrive.
