Motorized Shades in Irvine, CA
Shades that open at sunrise, close against the afternoon sun and come down at the touch of a button, on every window in the house.

For The Windows Nobody Can Reach
Most of our customers start with one problem: a wall of tall windows, a skylight-level row, or a west-facing room that cooks every afternoon. A motor solves it, and once one room is done, people usually want the rest. Quillen designs, installs and sets up every system ourselves, then comes back if anything needs adjusting.
- ✓Tall and hard-to-reach windows
- ✓Rooms that overheat
- ✓One button for the whole house
Shades We Motorize
Every shade is made to measure, then fitted with a quiet motor.
Four Ways To Move Them
A Remote
A small handheld remote for one shade, a room or the whole house.
A Wall Switch
A keypad by the door where the light switches already live, so guests can use it too.
Your Phone Or Voice
Open the shades from the couch or from the airport, or just ask.
A Schedule
Shades open at sunrise and close when the sun reaches a window, without anyone touching them.

No Cords, No Mess
Most single shades run on a rechargeable motor that lasts months between charges and plugs into a small cable when it's low. For big runs of windows or new builds, we hardwire the motors and hide the cable in the wall. Either way there are no cords hanging at the window.
- ✓Rechargeable motors for single shades
- ✓Hardwired for large runs
- ✓No cords at the window

From Orange County Homes
Our family room has windows eighteen feet up that we'd never once adjusted. Now the top row closes on its own at three in the afternoon and the room stays cool. It was the best thing we did in the house this year.
They motorized the shades we already had in four rooms instead of selling us new ones. Everything opens with one button by the front door, and in the app when we're away.
I was worried about wires. The installer used rechargeable motors on the bedroom shades and hid the wiring for the big living room run inside the wall. You'd never know.
Motorized Shades FAQ
How much do motorized shades cost?
A motorized roller shade in a standard window usually starts around $450 installed, and cellular around $500. Large windows, hardwiring and smart-home setup add to that. You get a written quote after the design visit.
Can you motorize the shades I already have?
Often, yes. Many roller and cellular shades can take a motor. We check the brand, size and condition at the visit and tell you honestly if new shades make more sense.
Will they work with my smart home system?
Our motors work with the major smart-home apps and voice assistants. Tell us what you use and we'll confirm before you order.
What happens if the power goes out?
Rechargeable motors keep working. Hardwired shades pause until the power comes back, and can be set to a safe position.
How long does the battery last?
Typically several months on one charge, depending on how often the shade moves. The app shows battery level.
Are they noisy?
They make a soft hum for a few seconds while they move. Most people stop noticing within a week.
