Out the Door by 5:04 — Drive-Thru Coffee in Boise, ID
Two lanes, the same menu in both, and the average wait written on the board every Monday. Last week it was three minutes ten.

Speed Is a System, Not a Slogan
Five decisions that between them take about ninety seconds off every order.
Two lanes, one menu
Both lanes run the identical board and the identical recipes, so we can pull whichever car is next rather than whichever lane a drink belongs to.
The menu is short on purpose
Fourteen drinks, not sixty. Every extra option on a board is a few seconds added to every car behind you, and it compounds all morning.
Two baristas, one runner
Nobody makes drinks and takes payment at the same time. It costs us a wage and it's the single biggest thing we did.
Order ahead if you're really pushed
Order from the website, park in the marked bay, and someone brings it out. No app, no account, no fee.
We post the number
Average wait for the previous week goes on the board every Monday, good or bad. In February it was 4:20 and we said so.
Pull In, Pull Out
Four steps and about three minutes, or two if you order ahead.
Pick Either Lane
Both run the same board and the same staff. Take whichever is shorter — we serve in the order cars arrive, not by lane.
Order at the Speaker
Fourteen drinks means you probably already know. If you don't, the board is at the speaker rather than at the window.
Pay at the Window
Card, phone or a punch card. The punch card is a piece of cardboard and it works when your phone is dead.
Away by Three Minutes
That's the average, and we post the real one weekly. Order ahead and park in the marked bay if you need it faster.
Four Reasons People Drive Past Two Others
None of them are an app.
A Number, Not a Promise
The previous week's average wait goes on the board every Monday whether it flatters us or not. February's 4:20 stayed up for a fortnight.
No App, No Account
Order-ahead runs off the website with no download and no signup, and the loyalty card is cardboard. We're not building a database, we're selling coffee.
Milk Alternatives Cost Nothing
Oat, almond and half-and-half are all the same price as whole. Charging seventy cents for oat milk in 2026 is a choice and we've chosen not to.
We'll Remake It There and Then
Wrong drink, wrong milk, or just not what you hoped — hand it back at the window. No receipt, no form, no supervisor.

Six Years on Eagle Road
Northbound started as a single shipping-container kiosk in a hardware-store car park in 2020, because the owner had spent four years commuting past a queue she wasn't willing to join.
The second lane went in two years later, which is when the wait time dropped under four minutes and stayed there. Everything since has been unglamorous: a shorter board, a dedicated runner, a bigger ice machine, and a rule that anyone can remake a drink without asking.
We don't have a walk-in counter and we're not planning one. A drive-thru that also serves a room ends up doing both slowly, and the queue outside is the business.
- ✓Opened 2020, second lane added 2022
- ✓Wait time under four minutes since
- ✓No walk-in counter, on purpose
- ✓Crew and fleet accounts, one monthly invoice
North Eagle Road
Two lanes in, one exit onto Eagle, and four marked bays for order-ahead pickups.

Before You Pull In
How long will I actually wait?
Last week's average was three minutes ten, measured from the speaker to the window, and it goes on the board every Monday. The worst month we've had was February at 4:20 and we posted that too.
Which lane is faster?
Neither, and that's deliberate. Both lanes run the same board and the same staff, and we serve in the order cars arrive rather than alternating. Take whichever is shorter.
Can I order ahead?
Yes, from the website — no app and no account. Order, park in one of the four marked bays, and someone brings it out. It's usually under ninety seconds and there's no fee.
Why is the menu so short?
Because every extra option on a board adds a few seconds to every car behind you and it compounds across a morning. Fourteen drinks is what we can make consistently and quickly. If we stopped making something you liked, tell us — we do bring things back.
Do you charge extra for oat milk?
No. Oat, almond and half-and-half are the same price as whole milk. It's a small thing and it's the one people mention most in reviews.
Is there decaf?
On everything, same price, and it's a proper sugarcane-process decaf rather than an afterthought. Just say so at the speaker.
Do you have a walk-in counter?
No, and we're not planning one. A drive-thru that also serves a room ends up doing both slowly. If you're on foot you're very welcome to walk up to the window — plenty of people do.
How do crew accounts work?
One tab for the whole crew, one invoice at the end of the month, no cards at the window. Useful if you run trucks or a site nearby. Call us rather than emailing — it's quicker to set up over the phone.
We'll Be Here Before You Are
