Who We Are

Northern Arizona's Truck & Off-Road Specialists

Flagstaff is a truck town at the edge of some of the best off-roading in the country — red-rock trails, forest roads, and winters that pack your rig with mud, cinders, and salt. Most detailers are set up for sedans in a garage; they don't want your filthy 4x4 dripping trail mud across their bay, and they definitely aren't crawling underneath to clean the undercarriage where the real grime lives. We built Switchback for exactly the trucks they'd rather not touch.

For eight years we've detailed the rigs that actually get used — lifted pickups, overland 4x4s, work trucks, and everything that comes home caked in Northern Arizona. We go under the vehicle, not just over it: undercarriage, wheel wells, and skid plates blasted clean, then sealed. We extract trail sand and mud out of interiors instead of just wiping the dash, restore sun-hazed headlights and faded trim, and lay down ceramic trail armor that makes the next adventure rinse off easy. We come to your driveway or meet you near the trailhead, and we treat a beat-up work truck with the same care as a show vehicle. If your rig earns its dirt, we're the crew that makes it look ready for the next run.

Trail-Grade Cleaning

We're set up for packed mud, cinders, and trail dust — the abuse a sedan detailer isn't equipped to handle.

Undercarriage Focus

We get under the rig — undercarriage, wheel wells, skid plates — where the real grime hides and rust starts.

Mobile to Your Rig

We come to your driveway or meet you near the trailhead anywhere in Flagstaff and Northern Arizona.

Protection That Holds

Ceramic trail armor built to survive dust, sap, and UV, so the next trip rinses off instead of etching in.

Big-Vehicle Ready

Lifted trucks, duallys, overland builds, and fleets — we have the space, gear, and know-how for the big ones.

Locally Obsessed

I run my Tacoma hard on the trails around Sedona and it comes back caked in red dirt every single time. Switchback is the only detailer I've found who actually gets under the truck — they blast out the undercarriage, the wheel wells, the skid plates, everything the trail packs full of mud. After a recovery detail it looks and drives like it never left the pavement, and the ceramic they put on sheds dust and sap way better than bare paint. These guys understand trucks that get used. Worth every mile they drive to reach me.

Booked the full detail on my lifted F-250 before selling it and the transformation blew me away. Years of Flagstaff winters and job-site abuse, and Switchback brought the paint, the bed, and the filthy interior all the way back — they extracted what felt like a beach out of the carpets. The headlight restoration alone made it look ten years newer. Professional, punctual, and they clearly take pride in trucks specifically, not just cars. It sold in two days for more than I asked. I've already booked them for my new rig.

As an overlander I'm gone for weeks and my 4Runner shows every mile of it — dust, mud, bugs, sap, the works. Switchback set me up on a rotation: a big recovery detail after long trips and quick maintenance washes between. The ceramic trail armor has been the real MVP; grime rinses right off now and the interior stays livable. They come to my place, they know how to treat a rig that's basically a home, and they never rush it. Best money I spend on the truck. Genuinely the go-to for off-road vehicles up here.

We keep a small fleet of work trucks and they were embarrassing to pull up in. Switchback details them on a schedule now and the difference with clients is real — clean, protected, professional-looking rigs. They handle the mud, the ladder-rack grime, the job-site interiors, and they're flexible around our routes so we're never all down at once. Reliable, thorough, and they treat a beat-up work truck with the same care as a show vehicle. If you've got trucks that work for a living in Northern Arizona, these are your guys.

Truck & Off-Road Detailing FAQ

Do you really clean the undercarriage?

Yes — it's the whole point of an off-road recovery detail, and it's what separates us from a regular car wash. After a real trail run, the undercarriage, wheel wells, skid plates, and frame are packed with mud, sand, and cinders that hold moisture against metal and start corrosion. We get underneath and pressure-wash all of it out, degrease where needed, and let everything dry before sealing. It's messy, physical work that most detailers won't do, but on a truck that actually gets used off-road it's the most important part — it protects the parts you can't see and keeps your rig from rusting out from underneath.

My truck is filthy — is that a problem?

Not at all — filthy trucks are literally what we do. You don't need to rinse it off or feel bad about the state of the interior; the muddier and more trail-worn it is, the more of a transformation we get to deliver. We're set up specifically for packed-on trail mud, cinder dust, sap, bug guts, and interiors full of sand, so there's no mess that surprises us. Bring it to us straight off the trail or let us come to you. The only thing we'd ask is to mention anything unusual up front — heavy oil, pet damage, mold — so we bring the right approach. Otherwise, the dirtier the better.

Do you come to me or do I drop off?

Both — whatever works for your rig and schedule. Our mobile service comes to your home, job site, or a spot near the trailhead anywhere in Flagstaff and Northern Arizona, and we bring our own water and power so we don't need anything from you. For the heaviest recovery details and ceramic coatings, many owners prefer to drop the truck at our Flagstaff shop where we have lifts, controlled space, and better lighting for coating work, which produces the best results. When you book we'll recommend whichever fits the service and how dirty the rig is — but it's always your call.

What is ceramic trail armor?

It's a durable ceramic coating we apply specifically with off-road abuse in mind. A ceramic coating bonds a hard, slick layer to your paint that makes the surface hydrophobic and much easier to clean — for a truck that means trail dust, mud, sap, and bug splatter rinse off instead of etching or staining the paint, and the next wash takes a fraction of the effort. It also adds gloss and UV protection, which matters at Flagstaff's elevation where the sun is brutal. It's not bulletproof against rock chips — that's a job for paint protection film — but for shedding the grime an off-road rig collects and making it easy to keep clean, it's the single best thing you can add.

How long does a recovery detail take?

A full off-road recovery detail typically takes most of a day, because we're doing far more than a normal wash — undercarriage and wheel-well cleaning, full exterior decontamination, interior extraction, and any restoration or ceramic work you've added. A lighter maintenance wash-and-seal is much quicker, often a couple of hours. When you book we'll give you a realistic time estimate based on your rig's size, how dirty it is, and the services you want, and if we're coming to you we'll schedule a window that works. We'd always rather take the time to do it right than rush and leave mud in the wheel wells.

How do I book?

Call (928) 555-0148 or fill out the form and tell us about your rig — make, model, how dirty it is, and what you're after, whether that's a full recovery detail, a maintenance wash, ceramic trail armor, or a pre-sale reset. We'll recommend the right service, give you a clear quote, and schedule you mobile or at our Flagstaff shop. We handle lifted trucks, 4x4s, overland builds, and fleets, and we treat every rig like it's ours. Booking takes a couple of minutes, and you'll get your truck back cleaner than the day you bought it and ready for the next trail.
