What We Make
Six things. All of them start as a drawing.
Not sure what you need? Send the room and the problem — the drawing is where it becomes clear.

We Draw It First
A brief is usually a room, a problem and a feeling. A drawing turns that into something you can argue with — the shelf height, the door swing, whether the seat lid clears the trim. Changing a drawing costs a rubber; changing a cabinet costs a month.
So every piece gets drawn to scale and sent to you with a fixed price and a start date on the same page. You approve the drawing, not a description, and nothing is ordered until you do.

Four Things We Will Tell You Before You Spend
Painted beats stained more often than people think
Painted work can use poplar and a good panel, which costs less, hides seasonal movement and looks crisper in a room with strong light. Stain shows everything, including the wall behind it.
Match the floor or ignore it completely
A timber halfway between your floor and your trim reads as a mistake. Either match one of them properly or pick something clearly different. The middle is the only wrong answer.
Georgia humidity moves everything
We acclimatise stock in the shop before cutting, set reveals for the wet season and seal end grain on anything going outdoors. It is invisible and it is most of the lifespan.
Local hardwood is cheaper than it sounds
White oak, poplar and pine all grow here and we buy rough-sawn and mill it ourselves. On larger pieces that regularly beats the big-box price for worse material.
Made In Athens
Two recent pieces. Every one started as a drawing on this page.

Three Things And We Can Draw It
You do not need measurements or a Pinterest board. These three are enough to start.
The room
A photo from the doorway and a photo of the wall. Bad phone photos are fine — we are looking at light, existing trim and what the wall does at the corners.
What it has to hold
Books, a television, coats and boots, board games, a printer. What goes in it decides depth, shelf spacing and whether it needs doors, more than any style choice does.
Painted or stained
You can change your mind, but telling us at the start changes the material, the price and sometimes the whole construction. If you genuinely do not know, we will price both.
Brief, Drawing, Build, Fit
Send a brief
The room, what it holds, painted or stained. Two minutes is enough.
We draw it
To scale, with a fixed price and a start date. Changes free until you approve.
We build it
In the shop on Prince Avenue, in stock acclimatised before cutting.
We fit and finish
Usually two to four days on site, walked with you before the final invoice.
What Athens Says
We sent a photo of an awkward corner and a vague idea. What came back was a drawing with three options and a price for each. We picked the middle one and it is now the best thing in the house.
They talked us out of the expensive timber. Said white oak in that room would fight the floor and poplar painted would look better for half the money. They were right and they made less money saying it.
Our 1920s bungalow has not got one straight wall. The bookcase sits against it like it grew there. I still cannot see the join.
Two Things Worth Saying Out Loud
We will talk you down
If a cheaper timber, a simpler profile or a repair instead of a rebuild is the better call, you will hear it from us before you spend. We would rather make less on this job and make the next one.
We book out, and we say so
Three weeks is typical and spring is longer. The real date is on the quote. If we cannot start when you need us we will tell you on the phone rather than let you wait on a drawing that was never going to help.
Got Something In Mind?
Send the room and the problem. You will have questions or a drawing back within two working days.
Before You Send A Brief
Do you charge for the drawing?
No. The drawing and the fixed price come together, before any deposit, and changes are free until you approve it. We would rather spend an hour drawing than a month building the wrong thing.
What does a built-in cost?
A painted alcove bookcase in a straightforward room runs in the low thousands. A stain-grade run across a whole wall with doors and drawers is several times that. Painted versus stained is the biggest single lever and we will give you a range on the phone rather than make you wait.
Can you work from a designer's drawings?
Yes, and we will flag anything that will not behave in real wood — an unsupported shelf span, a reveal that will close up in August — before the timber is ordered rather than after.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes, hourly. A sticking door, a rotted threshold, a drawer that has stopped running. Several of our biggest pieces began as somebody's two-hour job.
How long is the wait?
Usually about three weeks to a start date, longer in spring when everyone wants outdoor work. The real date is written on the quote, not implied.
Are you licensed and insured?
Georgia residential contractor license RBQA008431, with general liability and workers' compensation. Certificates go out with every quote.
Start A Brief
The room, what it has to hold, painted or stained. That is enough for us to draw something.
