The Table Everyone Gathers Around — Grazing Tables in San Diego, CA

Abundant, styled-on-site grazing tables for weddings, showers, and office celebrations — built from California cheeses, cured meats, and whatever the market did best this morning.

Our Story

It Started With One Very Ambitious Cheese Board

Five years ago a friend asked for "a little cheese board" for her engagement party, and something possessed us to build six feet of fig, manchego, honeycomb, and market flowers instead. Nobody sat down for two hours. Three guests booked us that night.

Fig & Thistle is still just that instinct, professionalized: tables designed like still lifes, built on site in the hour before your guests arrive, from cheesemakers, bakers, and growers we know by name.

  • Styled on site, never pre-boxed
  • California cheeses and cured meats
  • Florals and styling included
  • Dietary corners labeled and separated
On Every Table

What Goes Into a Graze

Every table is styled fresh, but the standards never change.

California Cheeses

Triple creams, aged goudas, and small-batch chèvres from creameries we visit ourselves.

Cured & Sliced Fresh

Prosciutto, salumi, and jamón sliced the morning of your event — never packaged.

Market Produce

Figs, stone fruit, berries, and heirloom everything, chosen at the market that week.

Baked That Morning

Sourdough, grissini, and crackers from North Park bakeries, cut and styled to reach.

Florals & Styling

Seasonal blooms, olive branches, candles, and linens — the still-life layer is included.

Dietary Corners

Vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free zones clearly labeled and physically separated.

Thirty Makers, One Table

A Fig & Thistle table is a map of Southern California eating: creameries from the backcountry, a salumist in Little Italy, honey from Escondido hives, and produce pulled from the Hillcrest farmers market the morning of your event.

We list our makers on a little card at the end of every table — because guests always ask, and because the makers are the reason the table tastes as good as it looks.

  • 30+ local makers on rotation
  • Maker card on every table
  • Seasonal, market-led styling
  • Zero-waste breakdown included

Guests walked into cocktail hour, saw the table, and gasped. It ran twelve feet down the courtyard and looked like a Dutch still life. By the end of the night it was archaeology — which is exactly the point.

They styled the graze around our brand colors for the launch. Clients photographed the table more than the product, which our marketing team decided was somehow a win.

The baby shower graze fed thirty people for four hours and required exactly zero effort from me. The fig and honeycomb corner changed several lives.

Good to Know

Grazing Table Questions

How much does a grazing table cost?

Delivered boards start at $145; full styled grazing tables run $16-24 per guest with a $600 minimum, including styling, florals, boards, and on-site build. Dessert grazes and brunch boards are quoted the same way — one clear number.

How long does the food stay fresh?

A graze is designed for a 3-4 hour service window. We build with heat in mind for outdoor San Diego events — shade planning, chilled bases under delicate items, and replenishment service available for longer receptions.

Can you match our color palette or theme?

That's half the fun. Send your palette, invitation, or moodboard and we design the table to match — florals, linens, and even the fruit selection follow your scheme.

What about allergies and dietary needs?

We build labeled, physically separated corners for vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free guests, with their own boards and utensils so there's no cross-contamination anxiety.

How much notice do you need?

Two weeks is comfortable for most tables; spring and fall weekends book 4-6 weeks ahead. Small boards and boxes can often be arranged with 72 hours' notice.

Do you deliver and clean up?

We deliver, build on site in the hour before guests arrive, and offer end-of-event breakdown that leaves the venue spotless — including donating or composting whatever the party somehow didn't finish.
