Our Story

Why Start A New Church?

Kindleway began as a Tuesday night Bible study in a Germantown living room. By the end of 2024 it had outgrown three living rooms, and the group kept meeting neighbors who wanted a church but hadn't found one that fit.

So we started one. We launched in September 2025 in Lowell Hall, an old warehouse on Cedarline Avenue, and we set up and take down every Sunday. We're still small, still learning, and we'd love for you to help shape what comes next.

  • ✓Launched September 2025
  • ✓Meets in a rented hall
  • ✓Built by its members

Built By The People Who Show Up

Every Sunday a team arrives at 8:30 to set out chairs, string the lights, brew coffee and turn a warehouse into a church. In summer we carry the chairs out to the lawn for a gathering outdoors. If you like to be useful, this is the fastest way to belong here.

  • ✓Setup and coffee teams
  • ✓Kids room volunteers
  • ✓Summer Sundays outdoors

We'd been church shopping for a year. Kindleway was the first place where people asked our names and then actually used them the next week.

I joined the setup team because I didn't know anyone. Folding chairs at 8:30 on a Sunday turned out to be the easiest way to make friends in a new city.

It's small enough that my kids know the pastors, and new enough that nobody's been doing it the same way for thirty years. We get to help build it.
Questions

New Church, Fair Questions

What kind of church is Kindleway?

A new, Bible-teaching church for people who want to follow Jesus with their neighbors. We're independent and not part of a denomination.

Why meet in a warehouse hall?

Because it's what a new church can afford, and it's in the middle of the neighborhood. We set up every Sunday morning and pack up after lunch.

What about my kids?

Kids from 3 to 10 have their own room during the talk, led by screened volunteers. Babies and toddlers are welcome in the hall with you.

How long is the service?

About an hour, starting at 10:30. Come at 10:00 for coffee.

How do I get involved?

Come to a newcomer lunch on the first Sunday, join a starter group, or sign up for the launch team. Send us a message and we'll help you pick.

We Saved You A Chair
