Independent Business Consultant in Nashville, TN

Senior advice, without the big firm. For 17 years I've helped founders and leadership teams decide what to do next, then make it happen. You work with me directly: no juniors, no handoffs, no hundred-slide decks.

About

Why I Went Independent

I spent nine years at a large consulting firm and then ran operations at two fast-growing Nashville companies — one in healthcare, one in live events. I saw both sides: the advice that looked brilliant in a deck, and the work of actually making it happen on a Monday morning.

I went independent eight years ago to do the second part properly. I take on four clients at a time so each one gets my full attention, and I stay long enough to see the plan work.

Nashville First, Anywhere When It Helps

Most of my clients are in Nashville and Middle Tennessee, and I'd rather be in the room with your team than on a screen. I also work with founder-led companies across the Southeast, with regular visits on site.

Who I Work Best With

Founder-Led Companies

Between 20 and 250 people, growing faster than the way they're run.

Leadership Teams At A Crossroads

A new market, a second location, an acquisition offer — a decision too big to make on instinct.

Owners Stepping Back

Building the team and the systems so the business no longer depends on one person.

Questions

Why hire an independent instead of a firm?

You get senior experience on every hour of the work, at a fee sized for a growing company. The trade-off is capacity — I take four clients at a time, so there's sometimes a short wait to start.

How are fees structured?

Fixed fees for projects and sessions, a flat monthly fee for retainers and interim roles. Everything is agreed in writing before we begin.

Do you work with other consultants?

When a project needs specialist skills — pricing, finance, recruiting — I bring in independents I've worked with for years, and I stay accountable for the result.

How soon can you start?

Strategy sessions within two weeks. Larger projects usually start within a month, depending on current commitments.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. I sign your confidentiality agreement or mine before any information is shared, and I never name clients without permission.

Do you work outside Tennessee?

Yes — remotely with regular on-site visits. Most out-of-state clients are elsewhere in the Southeast.
