A Dance Studio Just for Grown-Ups
Most dance studios are built around kids, with a lone adult class squeezed in at 9 PM. Latestep opened in North Park in 2018 to flip that: every class, every teacher and every schedule is designed for adults — absolute beginners, returning dancers and people who just want the best hour of their week.
There's no recital you have to do, no competition team, and no one grading you. Just real technique, great music and a room of people who started exactly where you are.
- ✓Adults-only classes, all levels
- ✓Evenings and weekend mornings
- ✓No recital, no pressure
- ✓Beginner series every month

It's Never Too Late
I'm fifty-three and I'd never taken a dance class in my life. The Absolute Beginners series was so kind and so clear. Now I take adult ballet twice a week and my posture has genuinely changed.
What I love is that nobody here is fifteen and flexible. It's a room full of grown-ups with jobs and kids and bad knees, having the best hour of their day.
I danced as a kid and stopped for twenty years. Returning felt scary. The teachers met me exactly where I was, and the Saturday jazz crowd became friends.
Grown-Up Questions
I've never danced. Is that really okay?
Yes — most of our students started with zero experience. The Absolute Beginners series was built for exactly you.
Am I too old?
Our students range from 18 to their seventies. Teachers offer options for knees, backs and every fitness level.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and socks or sneakers. Ballet slippers and tap shoes can come later — we lend tap shoes.
Do I have to perform?
Never. There's an optional spring showcase, but most students just enjoy class.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. Most people come alone, and partner work is never required.
Can I pause my pass?
Yes, for travel or injury — just email us before your next billing date.
Starts the First Monday of the Month
Six weeks, six styles, twelve people max — and not one of them has danced before.
