A Studio Where Kids Grow Up Dancing
Tuppence Row opened on Lassiter Mill Road in 2014 with one room and a lot of tap shoes. Today we teach more than 400 dancers a week, from three-year-olds in their first leotard to parents in the Thursday adult tap class.
Classes stay small, teachers stay for years, and every dancer gets the same promise: you'll learn real technique, you'll perform once a year, and nobody sits on the bench.

A Class for Every Age
Tiny Dancers · 3–5
Forty-five minutes of ballet, tap and make-believe. Parents watch on open viewing days at the end of each month.
Kids · 6–9
Real technique in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and acro, with a new routine to learn each term.
Tweens & Teens · 10–17
Contemporary, jazz and hip-hop at a faster pace, plus our Performance Company for dancers who want more stage time.
Adults
Beginner tap and ballet on weeknights — lots of parents join while their kids are in class next door.
One Big Show, No Surprise Fees
Every class performs in our spring recital in May, on a real stage in downtown Raleigh. It's optional, and most dancers wouldn't miss it.
We publish every recital cost in September — one costume per class, tickets and two rehearsal Saturdays — so there are no surprises in April. Dancers 8 and up who want more stage time can audition for our Performance Company, which enters two friendly regional competitions a year.

Ms. Claire · Ballet & Tiny Dancers
Trained in classical ballet and has taught three-year-olds for fourteen years. Knows every trick for a first-day wobble.
Mr. Dante · Hip-Hop & Acro
A former touring dancer who teaches clean choreography and even cleaner cartwheels.
Ms. Robin · Tap & Jazz
Runs the adult tap class and the loudest Saturday in Raleigh. Has taught at Tuppence Row since the day it opened.

Parent Questions
Can I watch my child's class?
Parents are welcome on open viewing days — the last Friday and Saturday of each month, for every class.
What does my dancer need to wear?
A leotard and tights for ballet, comfortable clothes and clean sneakers for hip-hop, and hair pulled back for everything. We send a dress-code sheet with every trial booking.
What if my child is shy or cries?
It happens every September. Our teachers are gentle and patient, and you're welcome to stay in the lobby for the first few classes.
What happens if we miss a class?
Book a make-up in any class at the same level within the month — just message the front desk.
Is the recital required?
No. It's optional, and we publish every cost in September so you can decide early.
How do you keep parents informed?
One short email every Sunday with the week ahead, plus a text if a class is ever canceled for weather.
