Kickdrum opened on Edgewood Avenue in 2015 with one room, one speaker and a simple rule: teach the foundations properly and let every dancer find their own style on top of them. Our instructors come from Atlanta's battle, music-video and competition scenes, and they teach the culture along with the steps — where the moves came from, and why the cypher runs on respect.
The result is a floor where a shy eight-year-old and a forty-year-old beginner both feel like they belong, and where the dancers who want to compete have a real path to get there.

Our competition crew auditions every August for dancers aged 10 to 18. Crew members train twice a week, compete at three regional events a season and headline the summer showcase at a downtown venue.
We publish the full season calendar and every cost — costumes, travel, entry fees — before auditions, so families can decide with their eyes open.

Tre · Hip-Hop Foundations
Atlanta-born, fifteen years in battles and music videos. Teaches grooves and footwork until they're automatic.
Jada · Choreography & Teens
Builds the teen crew's routines and runs the Saturday choreography lab. Clean counts, big energy.

Questions Before You Come In
Does my child need any dance experience?
No. Kids, Junior and Teen classes are open level, and the teacher adjusts each routine so beginners and returning dancers both get something out of it.
Is the music appropriate for kids?
Yes. Every kids and junior class uses clean radio edits, and choreography is chosen for the age group in the room.
Can parents stay and watch?
Our parents' lounge looks onto Studio 1 through a window. The last class of each eight-week session is an open showcase you can watch from inside.
Is breaking safe for beginners?
It is when it is taught in order. Breaking Foundations spends weeks on toprock and footwork before any freezes, and all power moves are spotted by a coach.
How does the competition crew work?
Auditions are every August for ages 10–18. Crew members rehearse Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings and compete at three regional events. We share the full calendar and every cost before auditions.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes — give us notice before your next billing date and your membership stops at the end of that month. There is no annual contract.
