Swing Dance Lessons in Kansas City
Learn the joyful, improvised partner dance born to big-band jazz — then put it to work every Thursday at KC's friendliest swing night.

Classes
Everyone starts with Lindy Hop Level 1 or East Coast Swing. Classes run in four-week series.

A Swing Studio a Few Blocks From 18th & Vine
Kansas City gave the world some of the greatest swing music ever played, and Lindenhop opened in 2015 to make sure the dancing lived on here too. Our studio sits in the Crossroads, a few blocks from the jazz district, with a sprung floor and a wall of old records.
We teach Lindy Hop as a social dance: improvised, musical and made for dancing with anyone. Rotation is standard, singles are welcome, and our Thursday swing night is where everything you learn turns into joy.
- ✓Rotating partners in every class
- ✓Leaders and followers both welcome solo
- ✓Sprung floor in the Crossroads
- ✓Live bands once a month

Swing Questions
What's the difference between Lindy Hop and East Coast Swing?
Lindy Hop is the original eight-count swing dance from 1930s Harlem, with the swing-out at its heart. East Coast Swing is a simpler six-count dance that's quicker to learn. Both are great first steps.
Do I have to come with someone?
Not at all. Classes rotate partners so everyone dances with everyone, and many students come alone.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and shoes with smooth soles that spin — leather-soled shoes or sneakers with suede patches. Vintage outfits are welcome but never required.
Can I come to swing night as a total beginner?
Yes — the 8 PM lesson is made for first-timers, and our hosts will help you find partners.
Is there live music?
A live big band plays on the first Thursday of every month; DJs play the rest.
What if I miss a class in a series?
Members can make up a missed class in another series at the same level. Series students get a practice session credit.
Next Series Starts the First Monday
Four classes and two free swing nights for $70. No partner needed.
