A Tap Company That Plays Like a Band
Brightheel's ensemble is an audition-based company of teen and adult tappers who rehearse twice a week and perform at Denver's summer jazz festival, our winter showcase and community events around the city.
Auditions happen every August. Ensemble members get choreography credit, improvisation coaching and the particular joy of hearing twenty pairs of feet land the same accent.

Do I need tap shoes for my first class?
No — we lend loaner shoes for your free class. Tell us your size when you book.
Is tap good for adults with no dance background?
It's one of the most approachable styles. If you can clap a rhythm, you can learn to tap.
What's the difference between rhythm and Broadway tap?
Rhythm tap is jazz-rooted and focused on sound and improvisation. Broadway tap is showier, with arms, style and stage choreography.
Can I practice at home?
Yes — a sheet of plywood or a portable tap board protects your floors. We sell practice boards at cost.
Is there a recital?
Each session ends with a short in-studio showing for families and friends. The ensemble performs publicly.
What ages do you teach?
Kids from 5, teens, and adults of every age — our oldest regular tapper is 75.
