Ten Years of First Dances
Waltzmoor began in 2016 when our founder, a ballroom teacher, noticed that half her Saturday students were engaged couples who wanted one song to go right. So we built a studio just for that: private, patient lessons for couples who have never danced and would like their first dance to feel easy.
We choreograph to your song, your skill level and your venue — a slow sway with one great spin, a classic waltz, or a surprise mash-up that switches halfway through. Whatever you choose, you'll leave every lesson with a video to practice at home.

The Countdown to Your First Dance
Most couples start 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding. Short on time? We've done it in two.
12 Weeks Out — Consultation
A free 20-minute chat about your song, your venue and the feel you want. We suggest a package and a start date.
8 Weeks Out — First Lessons
Hold, basic step and the shape of your routine. You'll get a practice video after each lesson.
4 Weeks Out — Polish
Dips, spins and your big finish. Bring your wedding shoes so you practice in them.
The Final Week — Dress Rehearsal
A full run in shoes and a skirt of similar length, plus a plan for the train and the bustle.
Parent Dances and Wedding Party Numbers
The first dance isn't the only one people remember. We teach father–daughter and mother–son dances that feel comfortable for parents of any age or fitness, and wedding party routines that get the whole group on the floor.
Many families book one extra lesson for parents and the couple together, so everyone arrives at the reception already knowing the plan.

Questions Couples Ask
We've never danced. Is that a problem?
Not at all — most of our couples start with zero experience. We build the routine around what feels natural to you.
How many lessons do we need?
Three lessons is enough for a relaxed dance with a dip or spin; five gives you a full choreographed routine. Couples with a surprise mash-up usually take eight.
When should we start?
Eight to twelve weeks before the wedding is ideal, with lessons every week or two. If your date is close, we can do it in two to three weeks.
Do we need to bring our song?
Yes — send it when you book. If it's long, we'll edit it to a comfortable length and send the file to your DJ or band.
Can you come to our venue?
Yes. A venue rehearsal visit is included in The Complete Wedding and can be added to any package for $175 in the Charleston area.
What should we wear to lessons?
Comfortable clothes for the first lessons, then your wedding shoes and a skirt of similar length for the last two.
