Community Childcare in Fresno, CA

Quality care every working family can actually afford — sliding-scale tuition, voucher support, and warm licensed rooms from infants to after-school. Nobody turned away for cost.

Our Mission

Great Childcare Shouldn't Be a Luxury

For thirteen years, one belief has run this place: every child in Fresno deserves warm, excellent, safe care — no matter what their family earns.

Nobody turned away for cost

If you want your child here, we will find a way — vouchers, subsidies, sliding scale, or a payment plan that works.

Vouchers & subsidies welcome

We accept CalWORKs, CCAP, and Head Start partnerships, and we help you through every confusing form.

Sliding-scale tuition

Private-pay tuition scales with your income, so quality care fits a working family's real budget.

The same care, for everyone

Voucher family or private-pay, every child gets identical rooms, teachers, meals, and love. Full stop.

Wraparound support

Struggling this month? We connect families to diapers, food, and rent resources — because care doesn't stop at the door.

A neighbor, not a chain

Locally run, deeply rooted, and here for the long haul — we know your family by name.

Financial Help, Made Simple

The Paperwork Is Ours. The Care Is Theirs.

The single biggest reason families miss out on childcare help isn't eligibility — it's the paperwork. The forms are confusing, the offices have hours you can't make, and one wrong box sends you back to the start. So we made it our job, not yours.

Sit down with our family-support coordinator and we'll figure out together what you qualify for — CalWORKs, CCAP, Head Start, sliding scale — and we'll fill it out with you, submit it, and follow up. Most families are surprised how much help they're entitled to. You focus on your kids and your work; we'll handle the rest.

  • We know every program: CalWORKs, CCAP, Head Start
  • We fill out the forms with you, then submit & follow up
  • Most families qualify for more than they expect

Welcome to Firefly

A gentle first week, a warm welcome, and a community that already knows your name.

From Our Families

The Neighborhood Speaks

As a single mom working two jobs, I'd almost given up on quality childcare I could afford. Firefly walked me through the voucher paperwork step by step, and now my daughter is thriving. They didn't just take my kid — they took my whole situation seriously.
Marisol G.Preschool parent, Tower District
I was nervous 'affordable' meant 'less.' It's the opposite. Bright rooms, warm teachers who've been here for years, real learning. My son reads now. This place gives working families the same quality the expensive centers charge triple for.
The Nguyen FamilyPre-K parents, Sunnyside
The before-and-after care is the only reason I could take the day-shift job. Reliable, safe, and warm — and they never once made me feel like a number or a charity case. Firefly is family.
Dominique W.Before & After School parent
Thirteen years in this neighborhood and it shows — the staff know every family by name, they connect you to diapers, food, and rent help when times are hard. This is what a community center is supposed to be.

Affordable, Never Lesser

Same License. Same Standards. Same Love.

Let's be clear about what 'affordable' does NOT mean here: it doesn't mean bigger classes, tired rooms, or less-qualified teachers. It means we've chosen — as a mission — to make excellent care reach every family, and we've built the funding to do it.

Every Firefly room is fully California-licensed, with the same low ratios (1:4 for infants), background-checked and CPR-certified teachers, secure entry, nutritious meals, and a real play-based curriculum you'd find at any top center. The difference isn't the quality. It's who gets to have it.

  • Fully CA-licensed, 1:4 infant ratio
  • Background-checked, CPR-certified teachers
  • Nutritious meals & a real curriculum, included

Common Questions

About Affordable Care at Firefly

Do you really accept childcare vouchers and subsidies?

Yes — CalWORKs, CCAP (Alternative Payment), and Head Start partnerships, among others. We work with these programs every single day and our family-support coordinator helps you apply. Accepting subsidies isn't a footnote here; it's central to who we are.

What if I don't qualify for a subsidy but still can't afford full price?

That's exactly what our sliding scale is for. Private-pay tuition adjusts to your household income, so care stays within reach for working families who fall between the cracks of the subsidy programs. Come talk to us — we'll find a number that works.

Is the quality really as good as the expensive centers?

Same California license, same low ratios (1:4 infants), same background-checked and CPR-certified teachers, same nutritious meals and play-based curriculum. Affordable is our funding model, not our quality bar. Tour us and compare — we're confident.

The paperwork always overwhelms me. Can you help?

That's the whole point of our family-support coordinator. We sit down with you, figure out what you qualify for, fill out the forms together, submit them, and follow up. You will never face the childcare-assistance maze alone here.

What ages and hours do you offer?

Infants (from six weeks) through before-and-after school for kids up to sixth grade, open 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday to fit real work schedules — including early and late shifts.

How do I get started?

Just reach out — call, text, or stop by. Tell us your child's age and when you need care, and we'll set up a tour and a conversation about cost and assistance. No commitment, and genuinely no judgment.

Ask About Openings
