What does the free readiness assessment involve?
Twenty minutes of one-on-one games with a lead teacher — letters, counting, scissors, listening — while you watch. You leave with a written snapshot of strengths and next steps, whether you enroll or not.
Is this a 'drill and worksheet' program?
The opposite. Everything is taught through play, songs, and hands-on centers — but mapped to the specific skills Charlotte kindergarten teachers tell us they need. Playful on the surface, deliberate underneath.
What is Junior K Bridge, and is it 'holding my child back'?
Junior K is a purpose-built year for young fives — kids who miss the kindergarten cutoff or would benefit from one more year of growth. Research and every K teacher we know agree: for the right child, the gift of time is exactly that — a gift.
What are your ratios and license rating?
We hold North Carolina's highest license rating — 5 stars from NC DHHS (Lic. #6055214) — and keep a 1:8 teacher-child ratio, tighter than the state requires for this age.
Do you help with kindergarten applications and school choice?
Yes. Each January we run a parents' night on CMS lottery timelines, magnet options, and private-school testing — and your child's readiness snapshot is written to be shared with any school.
My child has never been in childcare. Will they be okay?
Very common, and yes. Roughly a third of our students start with zero group-care experience. The first two weeks focus on routines and belonging — academics wait until your child feels at home.
