Norland is two flooring installers who got tired of fixing floors that other people sold and a third party put down in a hurry. So we opened a small studio on North Monroe, filled it with the planks we'd actually put in our own houses, and kept the install work to ourselves. You'll meet one of us in the studio, the other at your door for the measure, and both of us on install day.

We brought a cabinet door and a paint chip to the studio and walked out with three plank samples that actually matched. The same two people installed it the next week.
Our 1940s house slopes almost an inch toward the kitchen. They leveled it before laying the vinyl, and now the planks don't click and gap like the last floor did.

Vinyl Plank And Laminate Questions
Vinyl plank or laminate — which is better?
Vinyl plank is waterproof and quieter, so it wins in kitchens, baths and basements. Laminate has a harder, more scratch-resistant surface and usually costs less, so it's great in bedrooms and living rooms. Plenty of homes use both.
Can vinyl plank go over my old floor?
Often, if the old floor is flat, firmly attached and a single layer — sheet vinyl and tile usually work. Carpet always comes up. We check on the measure visit.
Why does my subfloor need leveling?
Click-lock planks need a flat surface. Over dips and humps the joints flex, gap and eventually break. Leveling adds a little cost and is the main reason our floors don't come apart.
How much does it cost per square foot?
Material and installation are priced separately on your quote, per square foot, with leveling and trim listed on their own lines. Vinyl plank and laminate range widely by brand and thickness — the studio has options at every level.
How long does installation take?
One to three days for most homes. We work room by room and clean up at the end of each day.
Do you only install floors you sell?
We prefer to — then one company owns the whole result. If you've already bought flooring, we'll look at it on the measure visit before quoting.
