About Greythorne

A Family Florist for the Hardest Days

Greythorne has been on Leavenworth Street since 1991, and a good part of our work has always been funeral and sympathy flowers. We know the delivery doors at the funeral homes across the metro, we know how early a visitation starts, and we know how hard it is to make decisions in the middle of a loss.

When you call, a real person answers. We'll ask a few gentle questions, tell you honestly what's customary, and take care of the rest.

What to Send

Not Sure What's Appropriate? Start Here

There's no wrong way to show you care. This is what most people send, depending on how they knew the person.

Immediate family

A casket spray or a large standing piece for the service, chosen together with the funeral director.

Extended family and close friends

A standing spray, wreath or heart on an easel at the service.

Friends, neighbors and coworkers

An arrangement or plant sent to the family's home, during the week of the service or after it.

A workplace or group

One larger tribute from everyone, with the group's name on the ribbon or card.

A cremation or memorial service

A low arrangement to sit around the urn or a framed photo.

When flowers aren't customary

Some faiths and families prefer no flowers at the service. We'll tell you honestly and suggest a plant or basket for the home instead.

Planning the Service Flowers

If you're arranging a funeral, we can work alongside your funeral director on the casket spray, the pieces around the urn or photo, and any flowers for the church or reception. We'll talk through colors, flowers that meant something, and your budget — and we'll keep track of what friends have already sent, so the room feels considered rather than crowded.

Kind Words

★★★★★
I called from Denver the morning after my dad died, not knowing what to send or where. They found the funeral home, told me what the family had already ordered so we didn't double up, and texted me a photo of the spray on its easel before the visitation. I can't tell you what that meant.

Planning my mother's service, I had no idea what a casket spray was or what it should cost. Greythorne walked us through it gently, kept us inside our budget and made something that looked like her garden.

Our office wanted to send one tribute from all forty of us. They suggested a standing spray with a ribbon from the whole team, sorted the card, and delivered it to the church on time.

Questions

Sending Funeral Flowers

Should I send flowers to the funeral home or the family's home?

Pieces for the service — sprays, wreaths, hearts — go to the funeral home. Arrangements and plants are usually sent to the family's home. If you're not sure, call us and we'll help you decide.

What should the card say?

Something short is perfect: "With deepest sympathy," "Thinking of you all," or a line about the person. We'll write it for you exactly as you give it.

Is it too late to send flowers after the service?

Not at all. Many families say flowers that arrive a week or two later mean the most, once the house has gone quiet.

How late can I order for same-day delivery?

Order by 1 PM Monday to Friday, or by 11 AM on Saturday, for same-day delivery to Omaha-area funeral homes and homes. For an early-morning service, we'll deliver the evening before.

Do you deliver to Council Bluffs and the suburbs?

Yes — all of Omaha, Council Bluffs, Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Millard and Elkhorn. Farther out, we'll quote a delivery fee when you order.

Who usually orders the casket spray?

The immediate family, often working with the funeral director. We're happy to coordinate directly with the funeral home so you have one less call to make.

Can you match the flowers to something personal?

Yes. Tell us their favorite flower or color, a garden they loved, or bring a photo. We'll design around it.

Order Sympathy Flowers

Tell us who the flowers are for and where they need to go. We'll call you back within the hour during shop hours to confirm the details. For a service today, please call (402) 555-0148.
