Ember & Rye was built for the moments between — the first drink after a long week, the second one you didn't plan on, the conversation that runs past midnight. We wanted a place that takes the drinks seriously without taking itself too seriously, and we think we found it.
Our cocktails are built on classic technique and a little Louisiana mischief — fresh juices, house syrups, rare amari, and spirits we hunt down from all over the world. Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are always welcome and there's usually room at the bar — but on weekends and for larger groups, a reservation is the smart move. You can reserve a table right here on the site, and for parties of six or more, we'd especially recommend it.
What are your happy hour times?
Happy hour runs Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 6pm, with discounted signature cocktails, select wines, and small plates. It's the perfect low-key way to start an evening — and one of the best-kept secrets on Magazine Street.
Can I book the bar for a private event?
Absolutely — our intimate back room is perfect for birthdays, engagements, and gatherings of all kinds. We offer custom cocktail menus, dedicated bartenders, and flexible food options. Reach out with your date, headcount, and vision, and we'll craft the perfect night.
Do you serve food?
We do — a focused menu of small plates designed to drink to. Think marinated olives, warm spiced nuts, charcuterie, and a few seasonal bites that punch above their weight. It's bar food elevated, meant to keep you happily settled in for another round.
I don't know much about cocktails. Will I feel out of place?
Not for a second — that's exactly who we love serving. There's no pretension here. Just tell your bartender what flavors you enjoy (or don't), and they'll guide you to something you'll love. Some of our best regulars started by saying 'surprise me.'
Where are you, and is there parking?
We're on Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District. There's metered and side-street parking nearby, and we're an easy rideshare from anywhere downtown — which, given the cocktails, is often the wise choice. We can't wait to see you.
