Forty Acres, One Obsession

Greywood began in 2006 when the Hartley family planted their first Pinot Noir on a southeast-facing slope in the Dundee Hills, drawn by the same red Jory soils that made this corner of Oregon famous. Two decades on, those vines have matured, and so has the wine — but the obsession hasn't wavered.

We farm all forty acres ourselves, sustainably and largely by hand, because great wine is grown long before it's made. Yields are kept low, fruit is picked at its peak, and every lot is fermented and aged separately so the character of each block comes through. We're small on purpose. It's the only way we know to make wine that tastes unmistakably like here.

Why Greywood

What You'll Taste in the Glass

Good wine is a hundred small decisions made well, season after season. These are the ones we never cut corners on.

Estate-Grown Fruit

Every bottle comes from our own forty acres — no purchased grapes, no shortcuts. We control quality from the vine to the cork.

Sustainable Farming

We farm with the long view: cover crops, minimal intervention, and healthy soils, so the land keeps giving great fruit for generations.

Small-Lot Winemaking

Each block is vinified separately in small lots, with native fermentation and a gentle hand, letting every parcel speak for itself.

A View Worth the Drive

Tastings happen on a terrace overlooking the vines and the valley beyond — the kind of setting that makes the wine taste even better.

Family-Owned

We're independent and family-run, which means you'll often find a Hartley pouring your flight and telling you the story behind it.

Critically Acclaimed

Our estate Pinots regularly earn 90+ point scores — but the reviews we cherish most come from the guests who join the club.

The Winemaker

A Patient Hand in the Cellar

Our wines are shaped by winemaker Elena Hartley, who returned to the family estate after years in Burgundy and the Sonoma Coast. Her philosophy is restraint: intervene as little as possible, trust the fruit, and let time do the rest.

That means whole-cluster fermentations with native yeast, aging in mostly neutral oak so the vineyard — not the barrel — leads, and bottling without fining or filtering whenever the wine allows. The goal is never to make the biggest wine in the room, but the most honest and the most ageworthy. Taste a vertical of our estate Pinot and you'll understand exactly what she's after.

From Vine to Bottle

How the Wine Comes to Be

There's no magic, only attention — at every step from the slope to the cellar.

Grown on Estate

Forty acres of sustainably farmed vines on red Jory soil, tended by hand and cropped low so every cluster ripens with concentration and balance.

Picked by Hand

We harvest in the cool of early morning, sorting cluster by cluster, so only the best fruit ever makes it into the fermenter.

Fermented Naturally

Native yeasts and whole clusters drive slow, gentle fermentations that build texture and complexity without ever forcing the wine.

Aged With Patience

Time in mostly neutral oak rounds the wine while keeping the vineyard front and center — then we wait until it's truly ready to share.

From Our Guests

Why People Keep Coming Back

★★★★★
Easily our favorite stop in the Dundee Hills. The estate tasting was unhurried and genuinely educational, the Pinot was stunning, and the view from the terrace at golden hour is something I still think about. We left as wine club members and have zero regrets.

★★★★★
I've been a club member for three years now and every release impresses. You can taste the restraint and the sense of place — these are wines made by people who clearly care more about quality than volume. The members' pickup parties alone are worth it.

★★★★★
We held our wedding on the estate and it was beyond anything we pictured. Rows of vines for a backdrop, their wine flowing all night, and a team that handled every detail with grace. Our guests are still raving about the setting and the Pinot. Magical.

★★★★★
As someone who tastes a lot of Oregon Pinot, Greywood stands out for its elegance and consistency. The reserve flight was a highlight of our whole valley trip — pour after pour of beautifully made, age-worthy wine, poured by people who know it inside out.

Before You Visit

Good to Know

Do I need a reservation?

Yes — all tastings at Greywood are by reservation so we can give every guest an unhurried, personal experience. Weekends and harvest season fill up fast, so we recommend booking a week or two ahead. You can reserve right here on the site or give us a call, and we'll find the perfect time for your group.

How long does a tasting take?

Plan for about an hour for the Estate Tasting, and ninety minutes to two hours for the Reserve Flight or a Vineyard Tour. There's no rush — part of the joy of a winery visit is slowing down, so feel free to linger on the terrace and soak in the view after your flight.

Are kids or pets welcome?

Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome on our outdoor terrace, and we love them. Families are welcome too — children must stay with their parents, and we're happy to offer juice or sparkling water for younger guests. For the comfort of all our visitors, we ask that everyone be respectful of the tasting setting.

Can I buy wine to take home or ship?

Absolutely. All our current-release wines are available in the tasting room, and many are exclusive to the estate. We ship to most U.S. states, and wine club members enjoy the best pricing and access to allocated and library bottles. Ask your host and we'll help you bring some Greywood home.

Do you host weddings and private events?

We do, and it's one of our favorite things. Our terrace and barrel room are stunning settings for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, and milestone celebrations, with estate wine flowing and the valley as your backdrop. Reach out through the visit form with your date and headcount and our events team will be in touch.

Is the estate accessible?

Yes. Our tasting room, terrace, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible, with accessible parking close to the entrance. The vineyard tour involves some gentle uneven terrain, but we're always glad to tailor the experience — just let us know your needs when you book and we'll make sure you're comfortable.
