Fun First, Always Safe
Creative grooming is a little bit of art and a lot of patience. We only add color or a design to dogs who enjoy being handled, and we always start with a free fifteen-minute consult: your dog's coat, skin and temperament, what will show on their color, and a small patch test. If a dog isn't having fun, we stop and finish with a classic groom — no color is worth a stressed dog.

Our Color Rules
Pet-formulated only
Semi-permanent dyes made for animals — never human hair dye or peroxide bleach.
Patch test first
A small test area at the consult, checked before the real appointment.
Healthy skin only
No color on irritated, broken or allergic skin — we'll suggest a stencil or nothing.
Away from the face
Color stays on ears, tail, paws and body — never near eyes or mouth.
Adult dogs only
No color on puppies under a year old.
Stop when they say
If your dog is unhappy, we finish with a classic groom.

We wanted a little pink on our bichon's ears for her birthday. They did a patch test first, went gentle, and she was the star of the dog park for two months.

Color & Styling FAQs
Is dog hair color safe?
When it's a semi-permanent dye made for pets, applied to healthy skin and kept away from the face, it's widely considered safe. We never use human hair dye or bleach, and we patch-test every dog first.
How long does the color last?
Usually six to eight weeks, fading gradually with baths and trims.
Will color show on my dog's coat?
Bright colors show best on white and light coats. On dark coats we'll suggest stencils or subtle accents instead.
How much does creative dog grooming cost in Reno?
Creative work is usually priced as an add-on to a groom. Ours start at $20 for a stencil and $25 for color accents, on top of a groom from $80. The style consult is free.
Can puppies have color?
Not until they're a year old. Puppies can have a creative haircut or a bow instead.
What vaccinations do you need?
Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella for adult dogs; puppies up to date on their age-appropriate shots.
