The Whole Pool, Every Way to Use It
Sweat it out in an aqua class, swim your laps, rebuild after an injury, or finally learn to swim — every program is warm-water, low-impact, and coached by pros.
🌊 82° Warm-Water Pool ✓ Certified Instructors & Lifeguards 💧 Low-Impact, All Ages

The Water Changes Everything
Blue Lane opened in 2016 in Hyde Park on a simple conviction: that the pool is the most underrated place to get fit in Tampa. Ten years later, thousands of members — from competitive swimmers to people who were terrified of the deep end — have discovered what water can do for a body.
Here's the magic of aquatic fitness: water supports up to ninety percent of your body weight, so you can push your heart and muscles hard while your joints, bones, and back feel almost none of the impact. It's why aqua fitness delivers a genuinely tough, full-body cardio-and-strength workout that's gentle enough to do for life — and why it's the answer for anyone sidelined by bad knees, arthritis, injury, or age. But the water is only half of it. Our warm 82-degree pool is pristine and welcoming, our instructors and coaches are certified pros who genuinely love what they do, and every lane is guarded and safe. Whether you're chasing a faster 100 in masters, rebuilding after surgery in aqua therapy, sweating through an aqua fitness class, or learning to swim for the very first time as an adult, you'll find your place in our water. Come dive in — your first class is free.

Push Hard. Feel Nothing (in Your Joints).
The simple physics that make water the smartest place to train.
Buoyancy Removes the Impact
Water supports up to 90% of your body weight, so there's no pounding on your joints, bones, or spine. The exact reason water works when running and gym floors hurt.
Resistance Builds the Strength
Every movement pushes against water in every direction, so you build genuine full-body strength and cardio — a tougher workout than it looks, with none of the strain.
Warm Water Speeds the Recovery
Warm water relaxes muscles, improves circulation, and soothes as you train — so you recover faster and can move in ways land training simply won't allow.

Tampa Trains in the Water
My knees ruled out running years ago, and I'd resigned myself to being out of shape for good. Then I found aqua fitness at Blue Lane. It's a genuinely tough, full-body workout — my heart's pounding, I'm sweating (yes, in the water) — but there's zero impact on my joints. Six months in I'm fitter and stronger than I've been in a decade, completely pain-free. The warm-water pool and the wonderful instructors have given me my active life back.
I'm a lifelong lap swimmer and Blue Lane is the best pool I've trained in. The lanes are always available, the water is pristine, and the masters program pushed my times down more in a year than I'd managed in the previous five. The coaching is technical and genuinely knowledgeable, and the community of swimmers is fantastic. If you're serious about swimming in Tampa, this is your pool.
After my hip replacement, aqua therapy at Blue Lane was the turning point in my recovery. The warm water let me move and rebuild strength safely, weeks before I could have on land, and the therapists coordinated perfectly with my surgeon's plan. I healed faster than anyone expected and I've stayed for the aqua fitness classes ever since. Professional, caring, and exactly what my body needed. I can't recommend them enough.
I was a 45-year-old who'd never learned to swim and was quietly terrified of the water. The adult swim lessons at Blue Lane changed that with more patience and kindness than I imagined possible. My instructor met me exactly where I was, and now I swim laps with confidence — something I genuinely never thought I'd do. It's the proudest fitness accomplishment of my life, and I owe it entirely to this place.

You Don't Even Have to Know How to Swim
Here's what surprises people most about Blue Lane: you don't need to be a swimmer to get an incredible workout here. Our aqua fitness classes happen in water where you can comfortably stand, so non-swimmers get the exact same joint-free, full-body burn as everyone else — no deep end, no fear, no experience required. And if you'd love to actually swim? Our patient adult lessons have taken countless nervous first-timers to confident lap-swimmers, at any age.
The water is genuinely the most welcoming place to start over. It's gentle on every body, it hides the self-consciousness a gym floor can bring, and the warm 82-degree pool feels wonderful the moment you step in. Every class scales to your level, our instructors are endlessly encouraging, and certified lifeguards watch every session so you're always safe. Your first class is completely free, with zero pressure and zero commitment. Worst case, you spend a fun, refreshing hour and sleep like a rock. Best case, you find the workout that finally sticks — the one that's tough enough to change your body and gentle enough to do for the rest of your life. Come dip a toe in; we'll take it from there.

Aquatic Fitness FAQs
Do I need to know how to swim?
Not for our aqua fitness classes — they take place in water shallow enough to stand in comfortably, so non-swimmers get the same great workout with no deep end and nothing to fear. If you'd like to learn to swim, our patient adult and youth lessons are built exactly for that, taking complete beginners to confident swimmers at any age. Whatever your comfort in the water, there's a program here for you and an instructor to guide you.
Is aqua fitness actually a good workout?
Absolutely — it's deceptively tough. Water provides resistance in every direction, so you build real full-body strength and cardio, and your heart rate climbs higher than you'd expect. The difference is that buoyancy removes up to 90% of the impact, so you push hard without the joint strain of running or the gym floor. Members are consistently amazed at how effective — and how sweaty — a pool workout is, all while feeling great on their bodies.
How does the free trial class work?
New members get a free trial class with no commitment. Pick an aqua fitness class or a lap-swim session, bring a swimsuit and towel, and come try it. An instructor will get you set up at the right level and guide you through your first workout. It's the best way to feel the difference the water makes. There's no obligation to join afterward — just fill out the form on this page and we'll get you scheduled.
Is it good for arthritis, injuries, or recovery?
It's one of the best things you can do. The warm water and near-zero impact make aquatic exercise ideal for arthritis, joint pain, and recovery from injury or surgery — you can move, build strength, and get fit safely when land-based training would hurt or isn't yet possible. Our aqua therapy program is specifically designed for rehab and coordinates with your care plan, and our warm 82-degree pool soothes sore joints and muscles as you train.
What should I bring?
Just a swimsuit, a towel, and a water bottle (yes, you still get thirsty in the pool!). Goggles are handy for lap swim but optional for aqua fitness classes. We provide any pool equipment your class uses, plus showers and changing facilities. Arrive about ten minutes early for your first visit so we can get you checked in and comfortable. No special gear and no experience needed — just come ready to get in the water.
Is there a membership or can I drop in?
Both. You can drop in for classes or lap swim, but most regulars find a membership is the best value and the best way to build a consistent routine — which is where the results come from. We keep memberships flexible with no long-term contracts and options for how often you come. After your free trial we'll walk you through the choices and help you pick what fits, with zero pressure.
Your First Class Is Free. Come Dive In.
Feel the full-body workout that's easy on your joints — warm water, certified coaching, and every program from aqua fitness to masters. All ages and levels welcome.
