Built to Make You Strong
🏆 Meet-Prep Specialists ✓ Every Level Coached 🔩 Competition-Grade Iron

A Real Powerlifting Gym, With Zero Ego
Commercial gyms aren't built for lifters. The squat racks are taken by people curling in them, the bars are bent, the plates don't match, and nobody there can actually coach a deadlift. Ironclad exists to be the opposite of all that — a dedicated powerlifting club with competition-grade racks, calibrated plates, real platforms, and coaches who've spent their lives under the bar.
But being hardcore about the iron doesn't mean being intimidating about the culture, and that's where a lot of 'serious' gyms get it wrong. Ironclad is genuinely welcoming — we've coached total beginners who'd never touched a barbell and nervous lifters sure they didn't belong, and watched them become some of the strongest, most confident people we know. Every PR gets cheered, every spotter shows up, and a 95-pound bench earns the same respect as a 500-pound deadlift. Whether you want to compete on a platform, break a plateau you've been stuck at for years, or just finally learn to lift the right way, you'll get certified coaching, a smart individualized program, and a crew that has your back. First session's free — come pull with us.

From Empty Bar to Platform
Coached, programmed, and progressed the right way.
We Coach the Movement
Everything starts with technique. A coach rebuilds your squat, bench, and deadlift from the ground up, so every rep is strong, safe, and efficient — no bad habits, no wasted effort.
We Program for You
Your training is individualized and periodized around your body and your goals, not copied off the internet. Smart programming is the difference between spinning your wheels and adding real weight to the bar.
We Get You to the Platform
When you're ready, we peak you for a meet — attempts, timing, and platform coaching included. And whether or not you compete, you leave measurably, provably stronger.

Detroit Gets Strong at Ironclad
I came in a skinny beginner who couldn't squat the bar without falling over. Two years of Ironclad coaching later I've totaled 1,000 pounds at my first meet. The coaches obsess over technique, the programming is smart, and the crew treats a 95-pound bench and a 500-pound deadlift with the same respect. This place made me strong in every sense.
As a woman I was nervous walking into a 'powerlifting gym,' expecting egos and grunting dudes. Ironclad is the opposite — genuinely welcoming, zero ego, and the coaching is world-class. My squat has gone up 90 pounds and I've never felt stronger or more confident. I tell every woman I know to train here. It changed my relationship with my body.
I'd plateaued for years at a commercial gym doing my own thing. Ironclad's coaches rebuilt my squat and bench from the ground up, fixed nagging injuries I thought were permanent, and got me to a state record. Competition-grade equipment, real programming, and coaches who actually know powerlifting. There's no comparison. Worth every penny.
The community is what keeps me here. Everyone spots everyone, cheers every PR, and pushes each other to be better. The coaches program my training, watch my form, and prep me for meets, but it's the crew that makes 6am deadlifts something I look forward to. Ironclad isn't a gym membership — it's a team. Best decision I've made.

Nervous About the Bar? Good. Come Anyway.
Everyone who trains here — every state-record holder, every meet winner, every coach — started exactly where you are: standing at the edge of a room full of iron, sure they weren't strong enough, experienced enough, or 'powerlifter enough' to belong. Every one of them was wrong, and so are you. There is no strength prerequisite to start. We coach beginners every week, and there is genuinely zero ego and zero judgment in this room.
Your first session is completely free, with no pressure to join. A coach will meet you, show you around, put a bar in your hands, and start teaching you to lift — surrounded by a crew that will cheer your very first rep. Worst case, you get a great session and learn something. Best case, you find the training, the coaching, and the community that finally makes you as strong as you're capable of being. Book your free session and come find out what you can really do.
- ✓First session free, zero pressure
- ✓Beginners coached every week

Frequently Asked Questions
I've never powerlifted. Can I still train here?
Absolutely — beginners are our favorite people to coach. Our Beginner Barbell foundations get you moving safely and confidently, and every program is individualized to exactly where you are. Most of our members started having never touched a barbell. You don't need to be strong to start; you start to get strong. And there is genuinely zero ego or judgment here — a first empty-bar squat gets the same respect as a 500-pound deadlift.
Do I have to compete?
Not at all. Plenty of our members never step on a platform — they train with us because they want real coaching, competition-grade equipment, and to get genuinely strong. That said, if you ever get the itch to compete, we're meet-prep specialists and we'll handle everything from peaking to platform coaching. Compete or don't; either way you'll get stronger than you thought possible.
Is it intimidating or full of egos?
The opposite, and we're proud of that. Serious about the iron doesn't mean intimidating about the culture. Ironclad is deliberately welcoming — spotters show up, PRs get cheered, and beginners and women tell us all the time that they feel more comfortable here than at a commercial gym. Great coaching and zero ego are the whole point. Come see for yourself with a free session.
What makes the equipment different?
A dedicated powerlifting gym is built for lifting the way a commercial gym never is. That means competition-grade power racks, calibrated plates, real competition bars, and lifting platforms — the equipment serious strength training actually requires, all in good condition and never occupied by someone curling in the squat rack. Training on the right equipment, coached correctly, is a completely different experience.
How does the coaching work?
After your free session, a coach assesses your lifts and goals and builds you an individualized, periodized program — not a generic template. From there you train with coaching on your technique, ongoing adjustments to your programming, and meet prep if and when you want it. You can train coached in small groups or one-on-one, plus open-gym access to run your program on your own schedule. It's real coaching, not a login to an app.
