Small Business Cyber Security in Durham, NC

Most small businesses don't need more security products. They need the basics done properly and a team that answers when something looks wrong. That's what we do.

What We Believe

Security That Makes Sense To Your Team

Marrowgate started in 2018 after we watched one too many Durham businesses buy expensive security tools nobody set up. We do the opposite: start with the handful of things that stop most attacks on small offices, set them up properly, and explain each one so your team actually uses it. If you don't need something, we'll say so.

The Basics

What Cybersecurity Does A Small Business Need?

Multi-factor sign-in everywhere

Email, banking and anything in the cloud. A stolen password alone is no longer enough to get in.

Updates installed on time

Computers, phones, routers and software. Many attacks use holes that already have a fix.

Backups you've tested

Kept separate from your network, and restored on a test run, so you know they work before you need them.

Staff who can spot a fake

Most attacks on small offices start with an email. A team that pauses before clicking is your best defense.

Protection on every device

Antivirus that's watched, encrypted laptops and a way to wipe a lost phone.

A plan for a bad day

Who to call, what to switch off and what to tell customers, written down before you need it.

Reviews From The Triangle

★★★★★
Our cyber insurance renewal came with a twelve-page security questionnaire. Marrowgate went through it with us, fixed the four things we were missing in a week, and we could answer every question honestly.

★★★★★
No scare tactics and no pile of products. They told us the few things that mattered for an office our size, did them, and trained our staff in plain English. Two months later one of our team reported a fake invoice instead of paying it.

★★★★★
We called the incident line on a Sunday when someone's email started sending strange messages. They locked it down within the hour and walked us through what to tell our clients.

Questions

Cybersecurity Questions

What cybersecurity does a small business need?

Start with six basics: multi-factor sign-in, updates installed on time, tested backups kept apart from your network, staff who can spot a fake email, protection on every device, and a written plan for a bad day. Those cover a large share of the attacks small offices see.

How much does cybersecurity cost for a small business?

With Marrowgate, a one-time check-up starts at $950 for offices up to 25 people. Ongoing protection starts at $45 per person per month, or $75 with around-the-clock monitoring.

We already have an IT company. Do we need you?

Maybe not. Many IT companies cover the basics well. Our check-up can confirm that, and if gaps turn up, we work alongside your IT company rather than replacing it.

Can you help with our cyber insurance form?

Yes. We review the questionnaire with you, fix what's missing before renewal and give you written evidence for each answer.

What should I do if I think we've been hacked?

Call our incident line right away, even after hours. Don't turn computers off or delete anything yet. We'll tell you what to disconnect and help you contain it.

Do you work with businesses outside Durham?

Yes. We work across the Triangle, including Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville, and most of our ongoing work is remote.
