Nashville Hardscapes We've Built

Nashville's Dedicated Hardscape Builders
Anyone can lay pavers on the ground. Making them stay dead-flat and solid for twenty years is a craft — and it's the only thing Stoneworks does. For fourteen years we've built the paver patios, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, and driveways that define Nashville backyards, and we've built our reputation on the part nobody sees: the base. A hardscape is only as good as what's underneath it, so we over-build the compacted base, get the drainage right, and set every stone with the patience it deserves. That's why our patios don't sink, our walls don't bulge, and our driveways don't heave through Tennessee freeze-thaw. We're not a landscaping company that dabbles in stone — we're a hardscape crew who builds it every single day, and it shows in every joint, edge, and level surface we leave behind.
- ✓Over-built base & proper drainage, always
- ✓Paver patios, walls, kitchens & driveways
- ✓Built to survive Tennessee freeze-thaw
- ✓A dedicated hardscape crew, not dabblers
The Difference Is Under the Stone
The Base Is Everything
A gorgeous patio over a lazy base fails in a season. We excavate deep, compact in lifts, and build the foundation that keeps pavers flat for decades — the part you never see but always feel.
Water Is the Enemy
Poor drainage is what heaves walls and sinks patios. We grade and drain every project so water moves away, not under your stone — the reason our builds hold when others fail.
Details Make It Timeless
Tight joints, crisp edges, clean cuts, proper restraints. The finish details are what separate a hardscape that looks built-to-last from one that just looks new for a year.

Nashville Homeowners on Stoneworks
Stoneworks built us a paver patio, a seat wall, and a fire pit, and the craftsmanship is on another level. The base prep alone was more thorough than what two other bids even mentioned — they explained why proper base and drainage is what keeps pavers from sinking and heaving. Two winters later it's still dead flat and perfect. The crew was precise, tidy, and clearly took pride in the work. This is a real hardscape company, not a landscaper who dabbles in pavers.
We needed a big retaining wall to reclaim a steep, unusable slope, and Stoneworks engineered and built it beautifully. It turned a wasted hillside into a flat, usable yard with a gorgeous stone wall. They handled the drainage behind it right, so there's no bulging or water issues. Serious, skilled builders — and the wall looks like it's always been there.
From the paver driveway to the outdoor kitchen, Stoneworks transformed our whole backyard into a space we use constantly. The stonework is flawless, the layout is smart, and they finished on schedule. You can tell the difference between a crew that builds hardscapes every day and one that doesn't. Worth every dollar.

A Hardscape Is an Investment — Build It Once
A paver patio or retaining wall isn't a weekend project you redo every few years; done right, it's a permanent part of your home that adds real value and lasts for decades. Done wrong, it's a sinking, heaving, cracking headache you pay to rebuild. The entire difference lives in the work you can't see: the depth of the excavation, the quality of the compacted base, the drainage behind the wall, the edge restraints holding it all together. Cheaper crews save money exactly there — and that's precisely where hardscapes fail. Stoneworks builds it to last the first time, so you invest once and enjoy it for a generation. When you're putting stone in the ground that's meant to be permanent, the crew who obsesses over the foundation is the only kind worth hiring.
- ✓Permanent value, not a redo every few years
- ✓The savings on a cheap base cost you later
- ✓We build the foundation others skip
- ✓Invest once, enjoy it for a generation

Hardscaping FAQs
Why do some paver patios sink and others don't?
It's almost always the base. Pavers are only as stable as the compacted gravel base and drainage beneath them. A patio built on a shallow or poorly compacted base will settle and sink within a season or two; one built on a deep, properly compacted base with good drainage stays dead-flat for decades. We over-build the base on every project — it's the single biggest reason our work lasts.
Do you handle the drainage and grading too?
Yes, and it's not optional — it's essential. Water is what destroys hardscapes: it undermines patios and bulges retaining walls. Every Stoneworks project includes the grading and drainage needed to move water away from and behind your stone, which is a big part of why our builds hold up when cheaper ones fail.
How long does a hardscape project take?
It depends on scope — a paver patio might take several days, while a large retaining wall, driveway, or outdoor kitchen can run a couple of weeks. After our site visit you'll get a clear timeline in your estimate, and we stick to it. We'd rather build it right on a real schedule than rush and cut corners.
Is a paver driveway durable enough for cars?
Absolutely — when it's built for it. A properly engineered paver driveway, on the right base with the right paver thickness and edge restraints, easily handles vehicle traffic and often outlasts poured concrete, which cracks. And if a section is ever damaged, individual pavers can be lifted and replaced invisibly.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Stoneworks is a licensed Tennessee hardscape contractor (#71204) and fully insured. Hardscaping involves excavation, grading, and structural walls, so licensed, insured, professional work protects your property and your investment.
