Built For The People Awake At Three

Nightbourne was opened by a former plant supervisor who spent eleven years on rotating shifts and could never get to a laundromat before it closed. Everything here follows from that. The floor is attended around the clock, not locked with a card reader after midnight. The lot and the entrance are lit brightly enough that you would send your daughter here alone at 2am. There is coffee, there are outlets, and there is no night surcharge, because charging more to the people with the least choice about when they wash is exactly the thing this place was opened to fix.

  • An attendant on the floor every hour, not a locked door
  • Lot and entrance lit like a forecourt, cameras throughout
  • Same prices at 3am as at 3pm, always
  • Coffee, outlets and seating that faces the door

First Time At 2am?

How It Works After Hours

1

Just Come In

No code, no card reader on the door, no buzzer. It is open the same way it is open at noon.

2

Tap Or Drop Coins

Every machine takes contactless. The change machine takes bills and cards and runs all night.

3

Wash And Dry

28 minutes for a standard wash, 7 minutes a quarter on the dryers. The attendant will point you at a free one.

4

Or Hand It Over

Drop it with the overnight attendant before 2am and collect it folded when your shift ends.

A Night On South Harvard

Who's Here And When

01

10pm — The Second Rush

Restaurant and bar staff coming off shift, usually two or three loads and out by midnight. The busiest the floor gets after six.

02

Midnight — Hospital Changeover

Nurses and techs from the medical district, most on the shift-worker card, most in and gone within ninety minutes.

03

3am — The Quiet Hour That Isn't

Our second busiest hour of the day. Drivers off the interstate, plant crews, and anyone whose machine picked a bad night to break.

04

6am — Handover

The overnight attendant hands the floor to the day shift, and everything dropped off through the night is folded and on the shelf.

Who Uses Us Most

Built Around Awkward Hours

Four kinds of customer keep this place open around the clock.

Hospital & Care Staff

Rotating shifts that never line up with normal opening hours. The shift-worker card was built for this group first.

Drivers Passing Through

Big machines, card payment and a lit lot you can park a rig beside. No membership, no app, nothing to sign up for.

Plant & Trade Crews

Coveralls and hi-vis that need a 60 lb machine and a hot wash, after a shift that ended at eleven.

Anyone Whose Machine Died

Sunday night, a full hamper and a broken washer. You do not need to wait until Monday for somewhere to be open.

From The Overnight Floor

From The Overnight Floor

I finish at the hospital at eleven and this is the only place I can do laundry without losing a day off. It is lit, it is clean, and there is always somebody at the desk.

Our machine died on a Sunday night with a week of work clothes in it. We were here at midnight and home by two with everything washed and dried.
Terrence AshgroveBrookside
I drive a rig and I am through Tulsa at odd hours. Big machines, card payment, no waiting at four in the morning. It is the only laundromat I plan my route around.

Dropped Before 2am

Folded and on the shelf under your name before the 6am handover.

No Overnight Premium

The same per-pound rate at three in the morning as at three in the afternoon.

No Minimum

A single bag is fine. Plenty of regulars drop one off on the way into a shift.

Collect Whenever

Shelved under your name — pick it up when your shift actually ends.

Questions About The Odd Hours

Are you really open at 3am, or is it card access only?

Really open. The door is unlocked, the lights are on and there is an attendant on the floor. We deliberately do not run the after-hours card-reader model — a locked door with a reader is not the same thing as being open, and it is not what a shift worker needs at three in the morning.

Is it safe at night?

It is the thing we spend the most money on. The lot is lit to forecourt brightness, cameras cover the lot and the whole floor, the seating faces the entrance, and there is a person on duty every hour. We would not have opened overnight if we could not do that part properly.

Do you charge more at night?

No, and we never have. Same machine prices and the same per-pound rate at every hour. Charging a premium to people who have no choice about when they wash is the exact thing this laundromat was opened to avoid.

Can I do a comforter or work coveralls?

Yes — there are six 60 lb machines and two 75 lb at the back for exactly that. Coveralls, hi-vis, sleeping bags, king comforters and truck bedding all go through them, and the hot cycle runs long enough for oily workwear.

What is the shift worker card?

A reloadable card at ten percent off every load, set up at the desk in about two minutes. It was made for hospital, plant and transport crews but anyone can have one, and it saves hunting for quarters at the end of a long shift.

Are you open on holidays?

Every one, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. Eleven years and we have not closed the doors yet. The overnight attendant works those nights on a premium — the customers just pay the normal price.
