A Small Shop That Does One Thing Properly

Tidemill is three people and eleven machines. We do not run a storefront full of coin machines and we do not deliver — we take laundry in at the counter, wash it, fold it, and hand it back. That narrow focus is the point: every order is sorted by hand before it goes in, washed on its own, dried at the temperature the labels ask for, and folded on the table rather than tipped into a bag. We keep a file on every regular — the detergent they use, whether they want their towels folded in thirds, which shirts must never see a dryer.

  • Sorted by hand before anything goes in a machine
  • Washed on its own, start to finish, every order
  • Dried to the label, not to one setting for everything
  • Your preferences kept on file and actually followed
Four Steps, One Day

How A Drop-Off Works

1

Bring It In

Any bag will do — we have free reusable ones at the counter once you have been in twice. No need to sort it first, that is our job.

2

We Weigh It With You Watching

On the counter scale, in front of you. You see the weight and the price before you leave, so there is never a surprise at pickup.

3

Sorted, Washed, Dried, Folded

Darks from lights, towels from clothes, anything hand-wash pulled out. Your order runs on its own from start to finish.

4

Text, Then Pick Up

You get a message the moment it is folded and on the shelf. Most orders are ready by 5pm the next day.

What The Rate Actually Covers

No Line Items, No Surprises

Detergent Is In The Price

Including fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. Plenty of places advertise a low per-pound rate and then charge for soap — we would rather quote the real number once.

Sorting Is In The Price

Every order is separated by color, fabric and temperature before it goes near a machine. It is the slowest part of the job and it is the part that protects your clothes.

Folding Is In The Price

Properly folded, not rolled or stuffed. Tell us how you like your towels and we will fold them that way every time from then on.

Your First Twelve Pounds, Half Price

Bring a bag in and see what comes back. If it is not folded better than you would have done it, we will not charge you at all.

The Things People Ask About

Bedding, Delicates And Everything Awkward

The reason most people first walk in is one item they cannot deal with at home — a king comforter that will not fit, a wool coat, a pile of hand-wash tops that have sat in a basket for a month. Those are priced per item rather than by weight, because a duvet weighs almost nothing and takes up a whole machine. Bring the awkward thing in on its own; there is no minimum on per-item work, and you do not have to become a regular to use us once.

  • Comforters and quilts from $28, including king
  • Wool, silk and hand-wash items washed cold by hand
  • No minimum on per-item work — bring one thing
  • Anything we think will not survive, we tell you before we wash it

Before You Drop Off

How much laundry is twelve pounds?

Roughly two full kitchen bags, or about four normal home loads. A week of laundry for one person usually comes in just under the minimum; for a couple it is comfortably over.

Do I need to sort it before I bring it in?

No. Sorting is included and it is the part we are fussiest about — colors, fabrics and temperatures are separated by hand before anything goes in a machine. Just tell us if something must not go in the dryer.

Is my laundry washed with other people's?

Never. Every order runs on its own machine from wash through dry. It is slower and it is why we have a minimum, but it is the only way to guarantee nothing comes back that is not yours.

What if something is stained?

We pre-treat what we spot as part of the normal rate. If a stain looks like it needs more than that we will set the item aside and call you rather than guess — some treatments can damage a fabric worse than the stain.

Can I choose the detergent?

Yes, and we will remember it. We keep fragrance-free and hypoallergenic on hand at no extra cost, and if you prefer to bring your own we will use it and note it on your file.

What happens if something goes missing?

It has happened twice in twelve years and both times we replaced the item. Every order is bagged and tagged at the counter and nothing leaves the shop except back to you.

Start A Drop-Off

Tell us roughly what you have and when you want it back, and we will confirm a price and a pickup time. If it is easier, just walk in — the counter is open seven days.
