A lockout is the cheapest thing we do and the one people most often turn into an expensive job first. Modern doors are full of wiring and airbag sensors inside the panel, so a coat hanger through the seal can cost far more than the callout it was meant to save — and a broken window is a glass bill plus a valet. We open the door with wedges and long-reach tools designed for it, without touching the paint or the seal. If a child or a pet is shut inside, say so when you call and we will treat it as an emergency and come straight away.

My fob had been dying for months and I kept putting it off because I assumed it meant a dealer visit. He reprogrammed it in the driveway in about twenty minutes, showed me the battery was fine and the case was cracked, and swapped the shell instead of selling me a new fob.
Ignition on our old Odyssey stopped turning with the key halfway in. He rebuilt the cylinder at the curb rather than replacing the whole assembly, which is what I'd been quoted elsewhere, and matched it to the existing key so we didn't need a second one.

What does a replacement car key actually cost?
It depends almost entirely on what the car needs, so we quote from the year, make and model on the phone. A basic cut-and-chip key for an older sedan is usually a little over a hundred dollars; a push-button proximity fob for a late-model truck is several times that. Both are still typically around a third of what a dealership costs once you add the tow, because your car never has to leave where it is parked.
I've lost every key. Is that a different job?
Yes, and it is worth saying so when you call. With no working key we have to originate the code from the lock or the vehicle rather than copy an existing key, and on many cars we also have to talk to the immobilizer to add a brand new key from scratch. It takes longer and costs more than a spare, but it is still a roadside job on most vehicles — you do not need a tow.
Can you program a fob I bought online?
Often, and we are happy to. The catch is that cheap online fobs are frequently the wrong frequency, a clone of the wrong chip, or simply dead on arrival, and we cannot make those work no matter what we do. If yours turns out to be one of them we will show you why, and you can either fit one of ours or order the correct part and have us back.
Do you need proof the car is mine?
Yes, always, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does not ask. We check photo ID against the registration or title before cutting anything. It is the single thing that stops this trade being used to steal cars, and it takes about a minute.
How soon can you get to me?
Across the Omaha metro we are usually with you within the hour during opening times, and often sooner in Benson, Dundee, Aksarben and Millard.
