We Moved Here Too
Hannah Wexcombe moved to Palo Alto from London in 2011, and spent her first six months learning everything she wishes someone had told her. In 2014 she started Wexcombe Homes to be that someone.
Today our small team speaks English, Mandarin and Spanish, works across time zones, and does one thing: helps people who are moving here find the right home and settle in.

Questions From People Moving Here
Can I buy a home without visiting?
Many of our clients do. We tour every home live on video, record what you'd want to see twice, and attend inspections for you.
How do I know which school a home is zoned for?
Palo Alto Unified assigns schools by address. We check every home against the district's attendance information, and you should confirm with the district before you buy.
Can you work with my company's relocation package?
Yes. We work alongside relocation companies and HR teams and keep everyone on one timeline.
Can a foreign buyer own a home in California?
Yes. Non-US citizens can buy residential property in California. Financing, taxes and how you hold title work a little differently, so we bring in a lender, CPA and attorney early.
What happens when I sell later?
When a foreign person sells US real estate, the buyer usually has to withhold part of the price for US tax under FIRPTA. Your CPA will explain how it applies to you.
How do I send money safely?
Only wire funds after confirming the instructions by phone with the escrow company, using a number you already know. We'll never send wiring instructions by email.
