Who We Are

Moving Seniors With Dignity

A later-life move is rarely just a move. It's leaving a home full of decades of memories, deciding what to keep from a lifetime of belongings, and stepping into a smaller space or a community — often while grieving, or unwell, or simply overwhelmed. It's tender for the person moving and hard for the family trying to help. A regular moving company, however efficient, isn't built for the emotional weight of it.

Wren & Willow is. For fifteen years we've specialized in senior and downsizing moves across Sarasota and the Gulf Coast, and we've helped more than four thousand older adults and their families through this exact passage. We move at the pace of the person, not the clock — patiently, kindly, and without ever making anyone feel rushed or like a burden. We plan the new home in advance so treasured furniture fits and the space feels familiar on arrival. We help with the hardest part, deciding what to keep, and we handle the rest with respect: donating to charity, distributing to family, and clearing the old home gently rather than defaulting to a dumpster. And we set the new place up completely — beds made, pictures hung, the favorite chair by the window — so your loved one walks into a home. One caring coordinator manages it all and keeps the family informed throughout. Families tell us we gave their parent dignity and gave them peace of mind. That is exactly what we set out to do.

A Home, Not a Pile of Boxes

We plan the new space and set it up fully — beds, pictures, the familiar chair — so your loved one arrives to a home that already feels right.

03

One Coordinator, Whole Family

A single caring coordinator manages every detail and keeps the family informed, so nobody has to carry the logistics of the move alone.

We measure the new space and plan where cherished furniture and belongings will go, and help gently decide what comes along and what doesn't.

3

Sort, Pack & Move

We pack with care at your pace, move everything safely, and handle the donations and clear-out of the old home with respect.

4

Fully Settled In

We set up the new home completely — beds made, pictures hung, kitchen ready — so your loved one walks into a warm, familiar space.

Family Reviews

Rated 5.0 by Gulf Coast Families

Wren & Willow moved my mother from the home she'd lived in for fifty years into assisted living, and I truly don't know how our family would have managed without them. They were endlessly patient with her, helped her decide what to keep in a way that felt gentle rather than rushed, planned exactly how her treasured furniture would fit the new room, and set everything up so it felt like home the moment she arrived — her pictures on the walls, her bed made, her chair by the window. One kind coordinator handled every detail. They gave my mother dignity and gave me peace of mind. I recommend them to every family facing this.

Downsizing from our four-bedroom house to a condo after retirement was emotionally harder than we expected, and Wren & Willow made it bearable and even hopeful. They never rushed us, helped us thoughtfully decide what came with us, and arranged for the rest to be donated and the house cleared — we didn't lift a finger or throw anything in a dumpster we'd regret. They planned the new space so beautifully that it felt right immediately. Their patience and kindness through a tender time meant everything. This is not just a moving company; it's a caring service. Wholeheartedly recommend.

After my father passed, we had to move my mother closer to us and clear out their home of forty years while she grieved. Wren & Willow handled it all with extraordinary compassion — patient with Mom, respectful of the home and its memories, careful to keep and pack the things that mattered, and gracious about donating and clearing the rest. Their coordinator kept our whole family informed and calm. They turned what felt impossible into something manageable and even gentle. We will always be grateful for how they cared for our mother and our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I'm 82 and moved myself from my house into a retirement community, and I was dreading every part of it. Wren & Willow took the fear right out of it. A lovely young woman coordinated everything, they measured my new apartment and planned where my furniture would go, packed my things carefully, and set it all up so I walked into a home, not a pile of boxes. They were patient with me when I changed my mind and never once made me feel like a bother. I felt cared for, not processed. If you're an older person facing a move, please call them. You'll be in kind hands.

Senior Moving FAQ

How is a senior move different from a regular move?

A senior move is as much an emotional passage as a physical one, and we're built for both. Beyond the moving itself, it usually involves helping an older adult make hard decisions about what to keep from a lifetime of belongings, planning a smaller space so their treasured things fit and feel familiar, handling the donation or distribution of what isn't coming along, clearing the old home, and setting up the new one completely so it feels like home on arrival — often while the person is grieving, unwell, or simply overwhelmed by the change. A regular mover, however efficient, isn't set up for the patience, the emotional sensitivity, or the full-service scope this requires. We specialize in exactly this, we move at the pace of the person rather than the clock, and one caring coordinator manages the whole thing so neither your parent nor the family has to carry it alone.

Do you help decide what to keep and downsize?

Yes, gently and without pressure — it's often the hardest part, and having a patient, experienced hand makes an enormous difference. Downsizing from a long-lived-in home means letting go of a great deal, and it can be emotional and paralyzing to do alone. We help by planning the new space first, so decisions are grounded in what will actually fit and feel right, and then working alongside your loved one at their pace to sort belongings into keep, give to family, donate, and clear. We never rush the person or make them feel a burden, and we handle the things they're parting with respectfully rather than treating a lifetime of possessions as junk. Many families tell us this guided sorting was the part they most dreaded and the part we most helped with.

What happens to the belongings that aren't moving?

They're treated with care and respect, never simply dumped. Items your loved one isn't keeping can be distributed to family members, donated to local Sarasota-area charities, consigned or sold where appropriate, and only genuinely unusable things are disposed of — and we handle the coordination of all of it. We can also fully clear out the old home so it's ready to sell, rent, or hand back, which spares the family from arranging a separate estate or junk-removal service during an already difficult time. If you'd like documentation of donations, we can arrange receipts. The goal is that nothing meaningful is lost, nothing usable is wasted, and the family doesn't have to make these arrangements themselves on top of everything else.

Will you set up the new home so it feels ready?

Yes — full settle-in setup is central to what we do, and it's the difference between arriving to a home and arriving to a moving day. We don't just deliver boxes; we make the beds, hang the pictures and artwork, place the familiar furniture the way it was planned, set up the kitchen and bathroom with everyday things where they can be reached, and connect the lamps and the television. For an older adult, walking into a new space that already looks and feels like theirs — with their chair by the window and their photographs on the wall — is deeply reassuring and hugely eases the transition. It's especially important for moves into communities or assisted living, where feeling at home quickly makes an enormous difference to how someone settles.

Can you coordinate with the family when we're out of town?

Absolutely, and we do it constantly — many of our moves are arranged by adult children living in another city. One dedicated coordinator manages the entire move and stays in regular contact with whichever family members you choose, so you're informed and involved without having to be physically present for every step. We can plan and communicate by phone, email, and photos, coordinate directly and gently with your parent on the details, and handle the logistics that would otherwise require you to take time off and travel. Families tell us this is one of the biggest reliefs we provide: knowing that a caring, competent person is managing their parent's move with compassion, and keeping them updated, even from far away. We're happy to set up whatever communication rhythm works for your family.

How do we get started?

Call (941) 555-0163 or send the form, and we'll begin with an unhurried, no-pressure conversation about your family's situation — what kind of move it is, the timeline, and what would help most. There's no hard sell and no obligation; the first step is simply understanding your needs and offering a clear, gentle plan. From there, one caring coordinator will guide the whole process at a pace that's right for your loved one: planning the new home, helping sort and pack, managing donations and clear-out, moving, and setting everything up. A later-life move is a lot to face, but it doesn't have to be faced alone or in a rush. We'd be honored to help your family through it with the dignity and calm it deserves.
