Community Arts Center in Tulsa
Six studios in the Pearl District where anyone from four to ninety-four can make something — ceramics, painting, printmaking and summer camps, taught by working artists.
Classes And Studios
New sessions start every eight weeks. Beginners are welcome in every studio.

An Old Brick Garage Full Of Kilns
In 2010 three Tulsa potters pooled their kilns in an empty brick garage on 6th Street and started teaching neighbors on Tuesday nights. The garage became Kilnhouse: a nonprofit arts center with six studios, a gallery for local artists and classes for every age. We believe making art is for everyone, not just people who already call themselves artists, so we keep classes affordable and offer scholarships.
- ✓Classes taught by working artists
- ✓Gallery shows for local artists

What People Make Here
I hadn't touched clay since high school. Eight weeks of Tuesday nights later I have a wobbly set of bowls I use every day and a table of friends I'd never have met.
My son went to summer camp shy and came home talking about linocuts. The teachers are working artists, and the kids can tell.
Open studio is the only reason I still paint. The light is good, the coffee is free and nobody minds if I stay till close.
More Than A Class
Open Studio Access
Members work in the studios during open hours between classes.
Kiln Firing
Member work goes in the next bisque and glaze firing.
Members' Shows
Members can apply for the annual members' show and the December sale.
Keep The Kilns Firing
Gifts pay for kids' scholarships, free First Fridays and the clay and paint that keep classes affordable. Tell us your gift amount and we'll send a secure link to complete it, or ask about sponsoring a camp week.
Class Questions
I've never made art before. Is that okay?
Yes. Most of our classes are built for beginners, and teachers start from the very first step.
How much do classes cost?
Eight-week adult classes start at $190, materials included for most studios. Kids' camps are $165 a week. Members get a discount, and scholarships are available.
What ages are kids' camps for?
Ages 4 to 14, grouped by age: 4 to 6, 7 to 10 and 11 to 14.
Can I book a private party or a group class?
Yes — clay nights and painting parties for groups of 6 to 20. Send a note with the date and group size.
Can I deduct a gift to Kilnhouse?
Generally yes, as the law allows: we're a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we email a receipt after every gift.
