Concrete That Looks Like Stone — Staining & Sealing in Tucson, AZ

Decorative staining and premium sealing for driveways, patios, pool decks, and masonry — rich color and real protection against the desert sun, monsoon rain, and time.

Why Tucson Homeowners Choose Stonecoat

Beautiful Concrete That Survives the Desert

Staining concrete is easy. Making it last through Tucson sun and monsoon is the part that takes real skill.

Rich, Custom Color

Acid and water-based stains layered for depth and movement, so your concrete reads like natural stone, not paint.

Proper Surface Prep

We grind, clean, and repair cracks and spalling first — the reason our color takes evenly and the seal bonds tight.

Premium sealers chosen for the Tucson sun and heat, so color stays rich and the surface doesn't yellow or peel.

Monsoon-Ready Sealing

We seal against the monsoon rain and moisture that lifts lesser finishes, protecting your concrete year-round.

Non-Slip Options

Slip-resistant additives for pool decks and walkways that stay safe and comfortable underfoot, even in July.

5-Year Warranty

Every staining and sealing project is backed by a written 5-year warranty against peeling and premature fade.

Who We Are

Tucson's Decorative Concrete Specialists

Concrete is everywhere in a Tucson home — driveways, patios, pool decks, walkways, garden walls — and most of it is plain, grey, and slowly cracking under the desert sun. It doesn't have to be. Decorative staining and sealing can turn that same concrete into a rich, stone-like surface that's both beautiful and genuinely protected. That's all we do, and we do it for the desert.

For fifteen years we've stained and sealed concrete and masonry across Tucson and the Foothills, and the desert is unforgiving on shortcuts. Relentless UV fades cheap stains, monsoon moisture lifts poorly bonded sealers, and heat makes the wrong product yellow and peel. So we prep properly — grinding, cleaning, and repairing cracks and spalling before any color goes down — layer our stains for real depth, and finish with premium UV- and heat-rated sealers chosen specifically for this climate. The result is concrete that looks like natural stone and holds its beauty through season after season of Tucson sun. Backed, of course, by our five-year warranty.

The Stonecoat Standard

Why Ours Lasts in the Desert

The three things that decide whether stained concrete survives a Tucson summer.

01

Prep and Repair First

Grinding, cleaning, and crack repair before color. Stain over a dirty, damaged slab and it blotches and fails.

02

The Right Sealer

UV- and heat-rated sealers made for the desert. The wrong product yellows, clouds, and peels within a season out here.

03

Sealed for the Monsoon

Proper sealing repels the moisture and rain that lifts lesser finishes, protecting the surface and color for years.

Protection That Lasts

Beauty and Armor in One Finish

A great concrete finish does two jobs at once. It makes a plain slab genuinely beautiful — rich color, natural movement, the look of quarried stone at a fraction of the cost — and it armors that surface against everything the desert throws at it. In Tucson, that second job is not optional. UV degrades unsealed concrete, monsoon moisture works into every pore and crack, and heat cycles slowly break the surface down.

Our sealing systems are chosen specifically for this climate: high UV resistance to hold color and prevent yellowing, moisture protection to shrug off the monsoon, and heat tolerance so the finish doesn't soften or peel in the summer sun. We can add slip-resistance for pool decks and walkways and match the sheen to your taste, from a natural matte to a wet-look gloss. The payoff is a surface that still looks freshly finished years later, sheds water and stains, and needs nothing more than the occasional rinse. Beautiful and protected — that's the whole point.

  • Rich, stone-like decorative color
  • UV, heat, and moisture protection
  • Non-slip and sheen options
  • 5-year warranty on every project

Stonecoat transformed our plain grey patio into a rich, mottled stained surface that looks like natural stone — and it's held up perfectly through two monsoon seasons and brutal Tucson sun. They ground it, repaired a few cracks, stained it, and sealed it with a UV-rated product. The color depth is gorgeous. Best upgrade we've made to the backyard. Genuinely impressive work.

Our concrete driveway was cracked, faded, and stained with oil. Stonecoat cleaned and repaired it, then applied a decorative overlay and a heat-rated sealer that completely changed the curb appeal of the house. A year on it still looks freshly done and sheds water. They were meticulous, on time, and stood behind their work. I'd hire them again without hesitation.

We had them seal our flagstone patio and stucco garden walls, and the difference is night and day — the stone color pops, the masonry is protected from moisture, and everything sheds the monsoon rain. They clearly know desert masonry and which products actually last out here. Professional, tidy, and fairly priced. Our outdoor space finally feels finished and protected.

From the quote to the final seal coat, Stonecoat was professional and knowledgeable. They stained our pool deck a cool, non-slip finish that stays comfortable underfoot even in July, and sealed it against the sun and chlorine. It looks incredible and functions perfectly. No mess, no surprises, and a finish built for the desert. Couldn't recommend them more highly.

Concrete Staining & Sealing FAQ

How is stained concrete different from paint?

Paint sits on top of concrete as a film that can peel, chip, and wear through in high-traffic areas. Stain chemically bonds with or penetrates the concrete itself, becoming part of the surface with rich, variegated color that looks like natural stone and won't peel off. Acid stains create marbled, translucent tones through a reaction with the concrete; water-based stains offer a wider color range. Both are sealed afterward for protection. The result is far more durable and natural-looking than any paint.

Can you stain old or cracked concrete?

In most cases, yes. Older concrete often takes stain beautifully, and we can repair cracks, patch spalling, and even apply a decorative overlay to badly worn surfaces before staining. We'll assess the condition at your quote and tell you honestly what's achievable — some heavily damaged slabs are better resurfaced or overlaid first. Either way, decorative staining and sealing is almost always a fraction of the cost of tearing out and replacing concrete, with a far better look.

Will the finish hold up to Tucson sun?

That's exactly what we design for. The enemy of stained concrete in the desert is UV and heat, which fade color and degrade cheap sealers. We use premium, UV- and heat-rated sealers specifically formulated for high-sun climates, so your color stays rich and the surface doesn't yellow, cloud, or peel. Combined with proper prep and our layered staining, it's built to survive Tucson summers season after season, and we back it with a 5-year warranty.

Do you seal pool decks and patios too?

Yes — pool decks and patios are some of our most popular projects. For pool decks we use cool, slip-resistant finishes that stay comfortable underfoot in the heat and safe when wet, sealed against sun, water, and pool chemicals. For patios we create rich decorative finishes sealed for the monsoon and everyday use. Both transform plain concrete into a genuine outdoor living surface that looks great and holds up to Tucson's climate and your family's use.

How long does a project take?

Most residential projects take two to four days depending on the size, the surface condition, and the number of stain and sealer coats — plus drying and curing time between steps, which we don't rush. Sealers in particular need proper cure time to perform, especially in the heat. We'll give you a realistic timeline at your quote and schedule around the weather, since the surface needs to be dry and temperatures need to cooperate for the best, longest-lasting results.
