Meet Vossler

Baking at 8,000 Feet

Vossler has cooked in Aspen's rental chalets for eleven ski seasons — a week at a time, in a different kitchen each Saturday, for guests who would rather spend their evenings at their own table than queue for one in town.

Cooking at 8,000 feet has its own rules — water boils cooler, cakes rise faster, bread needs less yeast — and a chef who has baked through a decade of them saves you the sunken soufflé.

A Ski Week

Saturday to Saturday at the Chalet

How most full-week bookings run. Every day bends around lessons, lift times and the weather.

1

Arrival day

The fridge and pantry are stocked before you land, and a pot of soup is waiting for whoever arrives first.

2

Mornings

Breakfast is out an hour before the first lift — eggs, oats, pastries — with something packed for the pockets.

3

Late afternoon

Something hot when the boots come off: chili, flatbreads, cocoa for the kids.

4

Evenings

Dinner at the time you choose, five nights out of six. One night is left free for a restaurant in town.

5

Last night

A longer dinner to close the trip, and a fridge left tidy with lunch for the drive or the flight.

Après-Ski Dinners

Dinner Without Leaving the House

After a day on the mountain, getting everyone dressed, into cars and into town for an 8 o'clock table is the hardest run of the day. An evening at the house means boots off, a fire lit and dinner as soon as it's done — for two nights or the whole week.

  • ✓Kids' plates at an earlier hour if you like
  • ✓Wine is yours; pairings suggested with the menu

Families Who Come Back Each Winter

★★★★★
We land late on a Saturday with three kids. This year the fridge was full, there was soup on the stove, and every breakfast that week was done before boots went on.

★★★★★
Eleven of us across three generations, two of them vegetarian. Nobody ate a separate meal all week, and the last-night dinner is still talked about at Thanksgiving.

We book the same week every February. Vossler remembers who likes what, down to the grandkids' pancakes.

Booking a Week

How a Booking Comes Together

Holiday weeks are usually spoken for by early fall; other weeks open up through the season.

1

Your dates and house

Arrival and departure, the address or rental name, and how many are staying.

2

The questionnaire

Tastes, allergies and the week's plans, filled in at your own pace.

3

A menu for the week

A day-by-day plan and an estimate, for you to adjust before you travel.

4

Access to the house

Your rental manager lets the chef in to stock the kitchen before you arrive.

Holiday Weeks Go First

Christmas, New Year's and Presidents' Day weeks are booked by the full week and fill earliest. Send your dates and we'll tell you what's open.

FAQ

Vacation Chef Questions

How is a week priced?

A daily rate for the chef, set by how many meals a day and how many guests, plus groceries, charged at what they cost. You'll see it on the estimate with your menu.

Do you stay at the house?

No. The chef arrives each morning before breakfast, comes back in the afternoon, and leaves after dinner is cleared.

Can you work with our rental company?

Yes. Most rentals in Aspen and Snowmass have a manager who arranges kitchen access before you arrive — we'll coordinate with them directly.

What about allergies?

List them on the questionnaire and the whole week is planned around them. For a serious allergy we'll talk it through on the phone before the trip.

Can we book just one or two dinners?

Yes, outside the holiday weeks. Après-ski dinners can be booked a night at a time when the calendar allows.

Which areas do you cover?

Aspen, Snowmass Village, Woody Creek, Red Mountain and the West End, plus Basalt and Carbondale down the valley.
