Two Generations, Five Acres, One Family
Tom and Ruth Tarnwick opened the kennel in 1998 on the family's land north of town. Their daughter Emily runs it now, and the family still lives on the property — which is why there is a person on site every hour of every night. We are not a franchise and never will be. We'd rather know forty dogs well than a hundred and fifty by kennel number.

Lexington summers hit the nineties and winters drop below freezing, so every indoor run is heated and air-conditioned, and the outdoor runs are covered and shaded. In July play yards run early and late; in January they run midday, with a towel-off before dogs come back in.

How much does dog boarding cost in Lexington?
Dog boarding in the Lexington area usually runs $35–$65 a night. Our Indoor-Outdoor Runs are $42, Deluxe Suites $58 and Family Runs for up to three dogs $70 a night.
Is there a minimum stay?
One night most of the year, and three nights over Thanksgiving, Christmas and the Fourth of July.
Is someone there overnight?
Always. The Tarnwick family lives on the property, and a family member does a walk-through every night.
Can you give medication?
Yes — pills, eye drops and insulin at no extra charge, logged on your dog's report card.
Can I tour before booking?
Please do. Tours run during office hours; call ahead and we'll walk you through the runs, suites and yards.
Do you offer daycare?
No — we're a boarding kennel only, which keeps the kennel calm for overnight guests.
