Most grooming stress comes from the room, not the haircut: barking from a row of cages, a hot dryer blowing for an hour, a dog waiting all day to be picked up. We built Tidewren the other way around. One dog per groomer at a time, hand-drying with a low-noise dryer, and a pickup text the moment your dog is finished. Every groomer here is trained in low-stress handling and pet first aid, and most have been with us for years.

What Happens After You Drop Off
Coat check at the counter
Two minutes with your groomer, hands on your dog: the cut you want, any matting, sore spots or nerves we should know about.
Bath and hand-dry
Warm water, a shampoo suited to the coat, and a low-noise dryer held by a person — never a cage dryer left running.
Haircut and finishing
Clipper work, hand scissoring where the style needs it, then nails, ears, paws and a last brush-out.
A text and a photo
We message you the moment your dog is finished, with a photo. Most grooms take two to three hours door to door.

We Will Tell You The Truth About The Coat
Brushing out heavy matting hurts, and we won't do it to your dog to save a haircut. If the coat is matted to the skin, we'll show you, call you, and shave it short and comfortable — then send you home with a brush, a comb and a two-minute routine so the next groom can be the style you wanted.

Before Your First Groom
How much does dog grooming cost in San Diego?
A full groom in San Diego generally runs $75–$150 depending on size and coat. Ours start at $85 for small dogs and $105 for medium, including bath, dry, haircut, nails and ears. Prices are posted above and we call before adding anything.
How long does a groom take?
Two to three hours for most full grooms, door to door. Because each groomer works on one dog at a time and we text you when they're done, your dog isn't sitting in a crate waiting for you.
What vaccinations do you need?
Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella, current and on file. Email a copy from your vet or show us at drop-off.
My dog is anxious or old. Can you still groom them?
Yes — tell us when you book. We schedule nervous and senior dogs for quiet times, work in short sessions with breaks, and stop if your dog has had enough.
How often should my dog be groomed?
Every four to six weeks for doodles, poodles and other continuously growing coats; every eight to twelve weeks for a bath and tidy on short or double coats.
Do you groom cats?
No — we are a dog-only salon. We're happy to recommend a cat groomer nearby.
