Your Dog's Routine, Your Dog's Yard, Your Dog's Couch
Boarding means a new building, new dogs, new noises and a crate. A house sitter means none of that changes. Your dog eats from his own bowl, sleeps on his own bed, barks at his own squirrels and waits by his own front door for a sitter he has already met. Lanternwick sitters are background-checked, bonded and insured, and the one who stays is the one who came to the meet and greet.
- ✓The sitter you met is the sitter who stays
- ✓Your dog's food, bed, yard and route
- ✓No exposure to a room full of unfamiliar dogs
- ✓Your home occupied, not empty, while you travel

Meet and greet
Your sitter and a backup come to your home, meet your dog and walk through the house with you.
Keys and the house sheet
Alarm codes, trash day, thermostat, the vet, the neighbor who has a key. Written down and kept private.
The stay
Your sitter arrives the evening you leave and stays every night until you're home. Photos every evening.
Why Owners Switch To A House Sitter
Anxious dogs stay calm
No new building, no barking next door, no crate. The dogs who hate boarding are the ones whose owners find us first.
Your house is looked after too
Lived-in lights, mail inside, bins out and a car in the drive. One booking covers the dog and the home.
Seniors and medication
Pills with dinner, a late yard trip and someone in the house if an old dog is restless at 3am.
Multiple dogs cost less
Two dogs stay for one nightly rate. A kennel charges for each.

Add A Midday Play Visit To Any Stay
Thirty minutes of fetch, a yard break and a top-up of water in the middle of the day, so the hours between the morning and evening walks aren't spent waiting by the door.
House Care Comes With The Stay
Lights and blinds on a changing schedule
Different rooms lit each evening, so the house never looks empty.
Mail and packages brought inside
Nothing stacks up on the porch.
Trash and recycling out and back
On your collection day, every week you're gone.
Plants watered, thermostat set
To whatever you write on the house sheet.
A walk-through before you're home
Dishes done, sheets changed, dog hair vacuumed, keys where you left them.
Snow and leaves
The front walk cleared on snowy mornings; leaves off the porch in fall.
Before You Book
How much does overnight dog sitting cost in Boise?
In-home overnight sitters in the Boise area usually charge $70–$110 a night, with holidays higher. Ours is $85 a night, $75 a night for stays of seven nights or more, and $105 a night over Thanksgiving, Christmas week and New Year's, for up to two dogs.
What are the sitter's hours?
The sitter is in your home from 9pm to 7am every night of the stay, and does an evening and a morning walk around those hours. During the day they come and go like you would; add a midday play visit if your dog is used to company at lunch.
My dog is reactive with strangers. Can this still work?
Often, yes — it's exactly the dog boarding doesn't suit. The meet and greet tells us. We'll ask you to do the first introduction on leash in the yard, and we may suggest a second short visit before the stay so your dog knows the sitter at the door.
Who are the sitters?
Adults who sit full-time for us, every one background-checked, bonded and insured, and pet first aid certified. You meet your sitter and a named backup before the stay, and the sitter who stays is the one you met.
Will anyone else be in my house?
No. Your sitter stays alone — no guests, no partners, no other clients' dogs. Alarm codes and keys are kept in a coded file, never labeled with your address.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to three weeks for most trips. Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring break fill six to eight weeks ahead, and a $100 deposit holds holiday dates.
