Eighteen Years Learning to See the Light
I came to the high desert for a season and stayed for a life. For eighteen years I've made fine-art landscape photographs of New Mexico and the greater Southwest — not the postcard version, but the quiet one: first light on a mesa, the particular gold of aspens in October, the way an adobe wall holds the afternoon. The work is slow by nature. I return to the same places across seasons and years, in the cold hours before dawn and the last minutes of light, waiting for the land to become itself. I photograph with large-format discipline and print with a master's care, because a fine print is where the picture finally lives. Every edition is made on archival cotton rag with pigment inks rated to outlast us all, editioned small — twenty-five or fewer — signed, numbered, and documented with a certificate of authenticity and full provenance. How are the editions limited, and what do I receive?
Each image is issued in a genuinely limited edition — twenty-five prints or fewer, and often as few as fifteen for select work — after which the edition is closed permanently and never reprinted at that size. When you purchase, you receive a signed and numbered archival pigment print made on 100% cotton rag paper, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that records the title, edition number, print date, materials, and full provenance. This documentation is what distinguishes a fine-art edition from an open-run poster: it makes your print a discrete, traceable work with lasting value, and it's exactly what galleries, appraisers, and future collectors will want to see. I keep a complete edition record for every image, so provenance can always be verified.
How archival are the prints — will they last?
Yes — permanence is central to the work. I print with pigment inks on acid-free, 100% cotton rag papers, a combination independently rated to resist fading for well over a century under proper display conditions. These are the same materials used by museums and serious fine-art studios. Framed with UV-protective glazing and conservation materials (which I'm glad to advise on or provide), a print will hold its tonal range and color faithfully for generations. A fine landscape print should be an heirloom, not a purchase you replace — everything about how these editions are made is in service of that.
Can you make a print of a place that's meaningful to me?
Yes, private commissions are some of my most rewarding work.
