Hello, I'm Your Photographer

Eleven Years of Making Mothers Feel Beautiful

I know exactly how it feels to book a maternity session — a little unsure, a little tired, wondering if you'll photograph well right now. Let me put that to rest: making you feel beautiful and completely at ease is the whole job, and after eleven years and more than four hundred families, it's the part I love most. Juniper & Rose is a boutique maternity and newborn studio in Old Town Scottsdale, built around one belief — that the chapter right before your baby arrives is worth stopping for. I bring the gowns, the guidance, and a warm, unhurried calm, whether we shoot in the editorial light of the studio, out in the desert at golden hour, or in the comfort of your own home. Newborn sessions are just as gentle: a toasty studio, infinite patience, and a safety-first approach so you can simply relax while I do what I do. And I don't stop at pretty pictures on a phone — every session is finished as heirloom albums and framed wall art, because these images are meant to live on your walls and be handed down, not lost in a camera roll. This is a once-in-a-lifetime window. I would be honored to help you keep it.

The Heirloom Difference

Photos Meant for Your Walls, Not Your Camera Roll

There is a quiet tragedy in modern photography: we take thousands of pictures and almost never hold one. A phone gallery gets buried; a folder of files gets forgotten. That's not what this chapter deserves, and it's not how Juniper & Rose works. Every session is designed from the start to become something real and lasting — a hand-designed heirloom album you'll turn pages of with your child one day, fine prints on archival paper, and framed wall art sized and styled for your home. At your in-person reveal I'll help you choose the images that matter most and design pieces you'll actually live with, so your maternity and newborn photographs don't vanish into a hard drive but hang on your walls, gather in albums on your coffee table, and pass down to the very baby they celebrate. The pictures are beautiful; the point is that you keep them. Eleven years in, the messages I treasure most aren't about the photos on a screen — they're from families telling me the album is the first thing they'd grab in a fire. That's the difference, and it's the whole idea.

From Our Families

The Words That Mean the Most

I almost didn't book maternity photos — I felt huge and exhausted and not at all photogenic. Juniper & Rose changed my whole memory of that time. From the moment I arrived I felt taken care of: the studio was warm, the gowns were gorgeous, and somehow I ended up feeling like the most beautiful version of myself. The photos are art. My husband cried when he saw the album, and now that our daughter is here, that glowing, hopeful woman on our wall is a gift I'll treasure forever. Worth every single penny.

Our newborn session was flawless, which anyone with a five-day-old knows is a small miracle. The photographer was endlessly patient, kept the studio toasty, handled every feed and diaper change without a flicker of stress, and posed our son so gently I never once worried. The results are breathtaking — timeless, soft, and so him. We did the bump-to-baby bundle and seeing the maternity and newborn photos together tells the whole story of our family beginning. We will be back for every baby.

As a photographer myself, I'm impossibly picky, and I booked Juniper & Rose for my own maternity session without hesitation after seeing the light and the editing. It exceeded even my expectations. The desert golden-hour set is stunning, the studio work is clean and editorial, and the whole experience was calm, professional, and genuinely fun. The heirloom album is museum quality. If you're on the fence, get off it — you do not get this chapter back, and this is the person to trust with it.

Good Questions

Everything You're Wondering

When should I book, and when is the best time for maternity photos?

Book as early as you can — because we photograph a limited number of families each month and pair every session with a hands-on album and wall-art design, dates fill three to six months in advance, especially in the cooler Scottsdale season. For the session itself, the sweet spot for maternity portraits is 30 to 34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully round but you're still comfortable enough to enjoy the shoot; if you're expecting multiples or measuring ahead, we'll aim a little earlier. The best plan is to reach out as soon as you know your due date so we can hold your ideal window — and if you're considering the bump-to-baby bundle, we'll gently pencil in the newborn session for your baby's first two weeks at the same time.

I don't feel photogenic right now — will I actually look good?

Yes — and this is the single most common thing expectant mothers tell me before a session, so please don't worry. Making you feel beautiful and at ease is literally the job, and I've spent eleven years getting good at it. You do not need to know how to pose, suck anything in, or bring your own outfits: I have a full client closet of flattering maternity gowns in a range of sizes and tones, I light everything to be soft and forgiving, and I guide every single pose and expression so you always know exactly what to do. Most mothers walk in nervous and walk out saying they felt more beautiful than they have in months. That transformation — from unsure to glowing — is my favorite part of every session, and it's the one thing I can promise you.

Are newborn sessions safe, and when should they happen?

Safety is the absolute non-negotiable of newborn work, and it shapes everything I do. Newborn sessions are best in your baby's first five to fourteen days, when they're at their sleepiest and most curled; we keep the studio warm and calm, move at your baby's pace with all the time in the world for feeds and cuddles, and I use trained, safety-first handling for every pose — many of the 'floating' or propped images you see are created carefully in editing from safe, supported shots, never by putting a newborn at risk. You're welcome and encouraged to feed, soothe, and hold your baby throughout; there is zero pressure and zero rushing. Parents consistently tell me the session was far calmer and more enjoyable than they feared, and that they left with both stunning photos and a lovely first memory.

What do I get, and do you offer albums and prints?

Absolutely — heirloom products are central to what Juniper & Rose is, not an afterthought. Every session includes a professionally retouched digital gallery, and at your in-person reveal I'll help you choose your favorite images and design tangible heirlooms: hand-designed albums built to be handed down, fine art prints on archival paper, and framed wall art sized and styled for your home. I believe deeply that these photographs are meant to be held and hung, not lost in a camera roll, so I design pieces you'll actually live with. Packages range from digital-forward collections to full album-and-wall-art experiences, and I'm always happy to help you build the right fit at your consultation. Whatever you choose, everything is produced to a true heirloom standard, made to last generations.

Where are you located and do you travel?

My studio is in Old Town Scottsdale, and it's set up as a warm, private space for both maternity and newborn sessions, with the gown wardrobe, professional lighting, and newborn heating and props all on hand. For maternity portraits, we can also head out into the stunning Sonoran desert for golden-hour sessions — the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and the areas around Scottsdale and Paradise Valley are breathtaking at sunset — or photograph in the comfort of your own home for a relaxed, lifestyle feel. I happily serve Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, and the surrounding Valley, and I'm available for travel beyond the area for destination sessions by arrangement. Tell me where you are and what you're dreaming of, and we'll find the perfect setting for your session.
