Pool Opening & Closing in Cherry Hill
We take the cover off in spring and put your pool to bed properly in fall, so it opens clean and the pipes come through the winter in one piece.

Spring And Fall Visits
Most South Jersey pools need us twice a year. Some want us every week in between.

Closed With Care
A pool that's closed carelessly costs money in spring: a cracked line, a stained liner, a pump that won't prime. Delancey started as a two-person crew doing openings and closings around Cherry Hill, and those two visits are still most of what we do. We keep a record of every pool, so the crew that opens yours in May knows how it was closed in October.
- ✓A record of how every pool was closed
- ✓Dates reserved a season ahead
- ✓Registered home improvement contractor

Pool Opening
Openings run from late April through early June, and the best dates go first. We take the winter cover off, clean it and fold it for storage, pull the winter plugs, reinstall the ladders and rails, start the pump and filter and check them over, then balance the water and brush and vacuum the pool. If the water opens green, we'll tell you what it takes before doing anything extra.
- ✓Cover cleaned, folded and stored
- ✓Equipment started and checked
- ✓Water balanced on opening day
Pool Closing
Closings run from mid-September through October, before the first hard freeze.
Water Lowered
Below the skimmer and return lines, so ice can't crack them.
Lines Blown Out
Every line cleared with air and plugged, the step that prevents spring repairs.
Winter Chemicals
Balanced and treated so the water stays clear under the cover.
Cover On Tight
Your winter or safety cover fitted, with ladders and rails stored.
Seasonal Prices
For an in-ground pool up to 20 by 40 feet. Larger pools, spas and safety covers add a little. Chemicals included.

South Jersey Reviews
We book the package every year. They open the pool the week before Memorial Day, close it after Columbus Day, and I never have to remember anything. The reminder email does it for me.
Our first winter with a pool, the previous owner had left the lines full. Delancey blew them out properly, plugged everything and walked me through what they'd done. No cracked pipes in spring.
Opened to a swamp after a wet April. They cleared it in a week and told us exactly what it would cost before they started.
Opening & Closing FAQ
When should I open my pool in New Jersey?
Most South Jersey pools open between late April and Memorial Day. Opening a little earlier, before the water warms up, makes algae easier to keep away.
When should I close my pool?
Once the water stays below about 65 degrees, usually from mid-September through October. Closing too early in warm weather can let algae grow under the cover.
How much does it cost to open and close a pool?
Our openings and closings start at $325 each for a standard in-ground pool, chemicals included, and the package with both starts at $595. Large pools, spas and safety covers cost a little more.
Why do the lines need to be blown out?
Water left in the plumbing can freeze and crack pipes underground or in the equipment. Blowing the lines out and plugging them is the most important part of a closing.
What if my pool opens green?
It happens after a wet spring or a loose cover. We'll tell you what it takes to clear it and what it costs before doing anything beyond the standard opening.
Do you open above-ground pools?
Yes. Above-ground openings and closings cost a little less. Tell us the pool size when you book.
