A Portfolio of Considered Spaces
A selection of recent projects across homes, workplaces, and interiors — each one shaped by its site, its light, and the people who use it.

Architecture That Begins by Listening
Field & Form was founded in 2012 on a quiet conviction: that great architecture isn't about imposing a signature, but about listening — to a site, to the light, to the way a family or a team actually lives and works. From there, the design almost writes itself.
We're a deliberately small, hands-on studio. The principals who win your project are the ones who draw it, detail it, and walk the site with the builder. We care as much about how a doorway feels as how a façade reads, and we believe restraint is its own kind of luxury. The result is work that's contextual, timeless, and unmistakably yours — never a template, never a trend chased past its moment.
- ✓A small, hands-on studio since 2012
- ✓Principals draw and detail every project
- ✓Contextual, timeless, never templated
- ✓Restraint as its own kind of luxury
From First Sketch to Final Detail
We work across scales and types, but the approach is always the same: thoughtful, rigorous, and tailored entirely to you.
Residential Architecture
Custom homes and additions designed around how you actually live — light-filled, efficient, and deeply personal, from concept through construction.
Commercial & Workplace
Offices, hospitality, and retail spaces that balance brand, budget, and human experience — places people are genuinely glad to spend their day in.
Interior Design
A seamless extension of the architecture — materials, millwork, lighting, and furnishings composed into interiors that feel cohesive and calm.
Renovation & Additions
Thoughtful transformations of existing buildings, honoring what's worth keeping while bringing space, light, and life to what isn't working.
Urban & Planning
Site studies, feasibility, and master planning that set projects up to succeed — grounded in context, code, and a clear long-term vision.
Sustainability Consulting
Energy-conscious, durable design woven in from day one — because the most sustainable building is one that's beautiful enough to last.
A Clear Path From Idea to Built
Architecture is a long journey, so the process matters as much as the design. Here's how we'll move from first conversation to finished space, together.
Discovery & Vision
We start by understanding you, your site, and your goals — listening closely and establishing the brief, budget, and aspirations that will guide everything.
Design & Refine
Through sketches, models, and conversation, we develop the design together — testing ideas, refining the details, and making sure it's truly right before we commit.
Documentation & Approvals
We produce the precise drawings and navigate permits and engineering, so the project is fully resolved and ready to build without surprises.
Construction & Delivery
We stay involved through the build, working alongside your contractor to protect the design intent and quality, all the way to the day you move in.

Material, Light, and the Art of Restraint
We believe the best architecture is felt before it's noticed. That comes from a relentless focus on the fundamentals: how natural light moves through a space across a day, how honest materials age and develop character, how proportion makes a room feel right without anyone knowing why.
We design with a restrained palette and a long view, choosing fewer, better materials and detailing them with care. We sweat the joints, the reveals, the thresholds — the quiet moments most people never consciously see but always feel. It's slower and more demanding than chasing a look, but it's the only way we know to make spaces that still feel considered and alive decades from now.
- ✓Designed around natural light
- ✓Fewer, better, honest materials
- ✓Obsessive about the quiet details
- ✓Built for decades, not for trends
What Sets Our Work Apart
Four principles guide everything that leaves the studio — and they're why our projects still feel right long after they're finished.
Context First
Every project begins with its place. We design in dialogue with the site, the climate, and the neighborhood, so the work belongs exactly where it stands.
Light as Material
We shape daylight as deliberately as walls and floors, because nothing transforms a space — or a mood — more profoundly than how light enters it.
Detail Is Everything
The difference between good and great lives in the joints and thresholds. We obsess over the details others overlook, because that's what you feel every day.
Built to Endure
We design for permanence, not the feed — honest materials and timeless proportion, so the work ages into something even better than the day it opened.
What Our Clients Say
Field & Form designed our home and somehow understood how we wanted to live before we could put it into words. Every room is full of light, nothing is wasted, and two years in it still feels effortless. They sweat the details most architects would skip. We could not be happier.
We hired Field & Form for our office and they delivered a workplace people genuinely love coming to. They balanced beauty, budget, and function with real discipline, and managed the build so tightly we opened on time and on budget. A rare and excellent partner.
Our renovation was complicated — an old building, a tight site, a long wish list. The studio handled all of it with calm and creativity, turning constraints into the best parts of the design. The craft is exceptional. I'd recommend them to anyone, without hesitation.
Have a Project in Mind?
Whether it's a home, a workplace, or a renovation, the best projects begin with a conversation. Tell us what you're imagining and let's explore what's possible together.
Questions, Answered
What's it like to work with an architect?
It's a genuine collaboration that unfolds over months. We'll start by deeply understanding your goals and site, then develop the design with you through sketches and models, refine it together, document it precisely, and stay involved through construction. You're a partner at every stage — we explain the trade-offs honestly and make sure the design always reflects you, not just us.
Do you handle interiors as well as architecture?
Yes, and we believe the two are inseparable. When we design the interiors alongside the architecture — materials, millwork, lighting, and furnishings — the result is far more cohesive and resolved. Many clients engage us for both, though we're also happy to focus on architecture alone and coordinate with an interior designer you love.
How long does a typical project take?
It varies widely with scope, but a custom home or significant renovation often runs 12 to 24 months from first sketch to move-in, including design, approvals, and construction. Smaller interiors and additions can move faster. We'll give you a realistic timeline early, and we'd always rather set honest expectations than over-promise on speed.
When in my project should I bring you in?
As early as possible — ideally before you've bought the site or set the budget in stone. The earliest decisions have the biggest impact, and our input on feasibility, site, and budget at the outset can save significant time and money later. It's never too early to start a conversation, even if you're just exploring.
How do architects charge for their work?
Approaches vary across the profession — common structures include a percentage of construction cost, a fixed fee, or hourly rates, often combined across phases. We'll propose a clear, transparent fee structure tailored to your project's scope after our initial conversation, so you understand exactly what's included and how we're compensated before any work begins.
Is a custom-designed project worth the investment?
For the right project, absolutely. Thoughtful design adds lasting value, avoids costly mistakes, and creates spaces that genuinely improve daily life — returns that compound over the decades you'll spend in them. That said, we'll always be honest about whether your goals and budget align, and we'd rather tell you that up front than midway through.
