Train Smarter, Run Stronger, Stay Healthy

Foothills Endurance was built on a hard-won belief: most runners don't need to train more — they need to train smarter. For ten years and 500+ runners, we've proven it, turning frustrated self-coached athletes into healthy, confident racers who finally run to their potential.

The problem with going it alone is that generic plans off the internet don't know your body, your history, your schedule, or your goals — so you end up doing too much of the wrong thing, hitting the same walls and the same injuries. Foothills fixes that. Every runner gets a certified coach (RRCA and UESCA) who builds a personalized plan and adjusts it every week based on how you're actually responding — layering in the form work, strength training, and smart fueling that keep you healthy and make you fast. We coach every distance and every level: the nervous first-timer aiming to run a mile, the marathoner chasing a Boston qualifier, the trail runner eyeing their first hundred, and the busy parent squeezing greatness into seven hours a week. In person on Boulder's incredible trails and roads, or online anywhere. If you're tired of guessing, plateauing, or breaking down, book a free strategy call and let's build the plan that gets you there.

The Approach

How Foothills Gets You Faster

The principles behind healthy runners and hard-earned PRs.

01

Individualized

No generic plan. Your training is built around your body, history, schedule, and goals, and adjusted every week based on how you actually respond. The plan serves you, not the other way around.

02

Healthy First

You can't train if you're hurt. We build durability with the right progression, strength work, and recovery, so you get to every start line healthy — the number one predictor of racing to your potential.

03

Smart, Not Just Hard

More miles isn't the answer; the right miles are. We structure easy easy and hard hard, layer in form and fueling, and make every session count — so you get faster without burning out or breaking down.

04

Coached & Accountable

Real coaching, not a PDF. Weekly check-ins, plan adjustments, and a coach a message away keep you consistent, confident, and moving toward the finish line you're chasing.

What's Included

Everything You Need to Race Your Best

Real coaching, not a template — the whole system that gets runners healthy, fast, and confident.

Personalized Plan

A training plan built for your body, goals, and schedule in a running app you'll actually use — updated every week based on how you're responding. Never guess what to run or when again.

Form & Gait Analysis

Video analysis of your running form and gait, with specific drills and cues to fix inefficiencies and injury risks. Small technique changes unlock big, lasting gains in speed and durability.

Strength for Runners

Running-specific strength work that builds durability, power, and resilience — the not-so-secret weapon behind runners who stay healthy and get faster year after year.

Fueling & Race Strategy

Dial in your nutrition, hydration, and race-day pacing so you execute on the day instead of hoping. The details that separate a good race from a breakthrough one.

Weekly Coaching

Check in every week and message your coach any time — a workout question, a schedule change, a niggle to flag. Real, responsive coaching keeps you consistent and confident.

In Person or Online

Coached on Boulder's roads and trails, or fully online anywhere with the same personalized plan and weekly coaching. Wherever you run, your coach is with you.

Runner Stories

PRs, First Finishes & Fresh Legs

I'd run four marathons on my own and kept hitting the same wall around mile 20 — and the same nagging injuries every training cycle. My first season with Foothills, I ran a 22-minute personal best, felt strong the whole way, and stayed completely healthy. The difference was a real plan built for me, weekly adjustments, and a coach who understood my body and my schedule. I finally raced to my potential instead of just surviving.
David K.Marathon · 22-min PR
I came to Foothills as a total beginner who could barely run a mile, terrified I wasn't a 'real runner.' My coach met me exactly there, built me up gradually and safely, and eight months later I crossed my first half-marathon finish line in tears. No injuries, no burnout, just steady, encouraging coaching. I went from dreading runs to loving them. This changed how I see myself.
Renee M.First half-marathon
Training for my first 100-miler felt impossible until I had a coach who'd been there. Foothills built a smart, progressive plan around my life and my mountain access, dialed in my fueling and vertical, and kept me healthy through the biggest volume of my life. I finished my first hundred with a smile. The expertise and the accountability were everything — I could not have done it alone.

As a busy parent I thought serious running was behind me. Foothills built a plan around the seven hours a week I actually had, and I ran a Boston-qualifying time off it — something I never managed with double the mileage on my own. Smart beats more, and a great coach knows the difference. Online coaching meant it fit my life perfectly. Worth every penny and then some.

Who It's For

First Mile or Hundredth — You Belong Here

You do not need to be fast, experienced, or call yourself a 'real runner' to work with a coach. In fact, that's exactly backwards — coaching is what makes you faster and turns you into the runner you want to be.

Foothills coaches the whole spectrum. The nervous beginner who wants to run a mile without stopping. The lifelong jogger ready to chase a first 5K or half. The frustrated marathoner who keeps hitting the same wall and the same injuries. The trail runner eyeing an ultra that scares them. And the time-crunched parent who wants to run fast off the hours they actually have. What they share is a goal and a willingness to be coached — and what they get is a plan built for them, a coach in their corner, and the healthiest, most rewarding running of their lives. Wherever you are on that spectrum, there's a place for you here and a finish line worth chasing. Book a free strategy call and let's find yours.

Good to Know

Running Coaching Questions

I'm slow / a beginner. Am I 'good enough' to have a coach?

Yes — a thousand times yes. Coaching isn't a reward for being fast; it's how you get faster and healthier, and beginners often benefit the most. A good coach meets you exactly where you are, builds you up safely, and turns running from something you dread into something you love. Some of our most rewarding work is with people who couldn't run a mile when we started. You don't need to prove anything to earn expert help.

How is coaching different from a free training plan online?

A free plan is a generic guess that knows nothing about you. Foothills coaching is a plan built around your body, history, schedule, and goals — and, crucially, adjusted every single week based on how you're actually responding, with a certified coach analyzing your form, guiding your strength and fueling, and keeping you accountable. Generic plans cause a lot of the plateaus and injuries runners blame on themselves. Real coaching is the fix.

Do you coach in person or online?

Both. In Boulder, we coach on our incredible local roads and trails with in-person sessions and form work. Online, you get the same fully personalized plan, weekly adjustments, video gait analysis, and direct coach access, delivered through a running app — for athletes anywhere. Online runners qualify for Boston, finish first ultras, and set PRs all the time. We'll help you choose what fits on your free strategy call.

What distances do you coach?

All of them, from your first 5K to a hundred-mile mountain ultra, plus everything in between — 10K, half marathon, marathon, and trail. We also offer standalone form, gait, and strength coaching for runners who want to move better and stay healthy at any distance. Whatever your finish line, there's a personalized plan to get you there prepared.

I keep getting injured. Can coaching help?

This is one of the biggest reasons runners come to us — and one of the most fixable. Most running injuries trace back to training errors (too much, too soon, too little strength, poor mechanics) that a good coach systematically prevents. We build durability with smart progression, running-specific strength, form work, and recovery, so you get to the start line healthy. Staying healthy is the single biggest key to racing your best, and it's central to how we coach.

How do I get started?

Book a free strategy call using the form on this page. We'll talk through your running background, your goals, and any obstacles, and map out exactly how we'd coach you — with zero pressure. If it's a fit, your coach builds your personalized plan and you start training. No obligation, just a clear, expert path toward your next finish line.
