We place panels on rear-facing roof planes where we can, match racking to the roofing material, run conduit inside rather than across the facade, and prepare drawings for local historic commissions when a review is needed.

Frequently Asked
Does solar make sense with New England winters?
Yes. Massachusetts gets less sun than Arizona, but electricity here costs much more, and net metering lets long summer days build up credits that carry you through winter. If your power comes from a municipal utility — Holden, Shrewsbury and Paxton run their own — its rules for solar credits are set locally, and we'll walk you through them. Your proposal shows production month by month so you can see it for yourself.
Is there still a federal tax credit?
Not for homeowners who buy their system — the federal credit ended for home systems installed after 2025. Massachusetts has had state programs and incentives over the years; we check what's open when we quote and put it in writing, and your tax preparer confirms what you can claim.
Can you install on a slate roof?
Yes, with care and the right hardware. Slate needs specialized mounts and a crew that knows how to lift and replace tiles without cracking them. We'll also tell you if the slate itself needs attention first.
What about snow on the panels?
Most snow slides off within a day or two of sun. We don't recommend climbing up to clear it, and the system is designed with winter production in mind.
Do I need a battery?
Not to save on your bill under current net metering. A battery earns its place if you want backup through winter storms and nor'easters.
Do you service systems you didn't install?
Yes — checkups, repairs and warranty claims, for any brand and any installer.
