Jersey City Crypto Tax
We reconcile every exchange, wallet and client payment into a return you can stand behind — and set your quarterly estimates so April isn't a surprise.
What We Do
For people whose income doesn't come on a single W-2.
Built For Income That Doesn't Fit A W-2
We started in 2017, the year our own friends discovered they owed tax on crypto they'd traded but never cashed out. Today most of our clients are freelancers, creators and people with a few exchange accounts, and we prepare their federal, New Jersey and New York returns. Everyone who prepares returns here holds an IRS preparer number.

Form 1099‑DA Is Here. It Won't Tell The Whole Story.
Starting with 2025 sales, crypto brokers send Form 1099‑DA showing what you sold and for how much. Cost basis only starts appearing for assets bought from 2026 on, and transfers between platforms can leave it blank. Without your own records, the IRS sees the sale price and nothing else. We rebuild the basis so you're taxed on the gain, not the whole sale.
- ✓Basis rebuilt from your full history
- ✓Transfers between your own accounts matched
- ✓1099‑DA totals reconciled to your return
From People With Complicated Income
Three exchanges, two wallets and a year of staking. They matched every transfer so I wasn't taxed twice on coins I'd only moved between my own accounts.
I'm a freelance designer with clients in Manhattan. They sorted out New Jersey and New York, set my quarterly payments, and I finally stopped owing a penalty every April.
I'd never reported a few small trades from 2022. They amended the return, explained what I owed and why, and I slept better that night.

Crypto & Freelancer Tax Questions
How much does a crypto tax return cost?
Crypto returns start at $395 and depend on how many exchanges, wallets and transactions you have. You get a fixed quote on the review call.
Do I owe tax if I never cashed out to dollars?
Often, yes. Trading one coin for another is generally a taxable sale, and staking rewards are usually income when you receive them. Simply moving coins between your own wallets is not.
What if an exchange shut down or I lost records?
We rebuild what we can from wallet addresses, bank records and other exchanges, and we tell you plainly where a gap remains and how we've handled it.
Do I need to make quarterly payments?
Generally, if you expect to owe $1,000 or more in federal tax for the year after withholding. We work out the amounts and remind you before each date.
I live in Jersey City and work in New York. Which state do I file?
Usually both. New York taxes the income you earn working there, and New Jersey gives you a credit for that tax on your resident return. We prepare both.
Can you deal with an IRS letter about my crypto?
We'll explain the letter and help you reply, especially if it's a mismatch we can fix with your basis records. For an audit, we'll bring in an enrolled agent or CPA who can represent you.
