About Me

A Small Practice On Purpose

I've prepared returns in Knoxville for fourteen tax seasons, and I keep the practice small so every client gets me — not whoever is free that day. I hold an IRS preparer number, I take continuing education every year, and I work evenings and Saturdays in season because that's when people with day jobs can come in.

Rental PropertyAdd $110

Rent, repairs, depreciation and the records to keep — added to your return for each property.

Prior-Year ReturnsFrom $175

Missed a year or two? I work out what's missing and file them in order.

Got A Letter?

IRS Letters Don't Wait For Tax Season

Most IRS letters ask a simple question or point out a form that didn't match. Bring the letter in or send a photo, and I'll explain what it means and help you write the reply. It's free on returns I prepared. If a letter turns into an audit or a back-tax case, I'll introduce you to an enrolled agent or CPA who can represent you.

  • ✓Free on returns I prepared
  • ✓Reply drafted with you, usually within a week
  • ✓Referral to an enrolled agent or CPA when you need representation

Evening Times Fill Up By March

Book now and bring your paperwork whenever it's ready. Nothing to pay until your return is done.

Questions

What Clients Ask Me

How much does it cost?

Simple individual returns start at $150. Self-employed, rental and prior-year returns cost more. I tell you the fee before I start, and that's what you pay.

Do I need to file a Tennessee return?

Usually not. Tennessee has no state income tax on wages. If you lived or worked in another state during the year, that state's return is extra.

How long until I get my refund?

The IRS issues most e-filed refunds with direct deposit within about 21 days. Some returns take longer if the IRS reviews them.

Should I just use tax software?

If your return is simple and nothing changed, software works fine. People come to me when something did change — a new job, a side business, a rental, retirement, a death in the family — or when they'd rather not guess.

I haven't filed in a few years. Can you help?

Yes. Bring whatever you have. I'll work out which years are missing and file them in order.

What happens if the IRS sends me a letter?

Send me a photo. I'll explain it and help you reply, free on returns I prepared. For audits and collections, I'll refer you to an enrolled agent or CPA who can represent you before the IRS.

Can I drop my paperwork off instead?

Yes. Leave it in a sealed envelope at the office and I'll call when your return is ready to review and sign.

How do you keep my documents safe?

Paper stays in a locked cabinet while I work and goes back to you when you sign. Returns are e-filed through professional tax software as an Authorized IRS e-file Provider, and I never email Social Security numbers.
